Florida Lands Highly Regarded 4-Star CB Jayvaughn Myers

The Florida Gators Class of 2016 grouping of cornerbacks now looks complete with the Tuesday commitment of Dade City, Fla. cornerback Jayvaughn Myers.

Myers helped Pasco High School to a 6-4 record in 2014 coming up with 31 stops, five pass breakups, and one sack in nine games played. He was also used on the Pirates special teams as a part-time kick and punt returner.

College coaches up and down the east coast liked what they saw in the 6’1”, 175 pound, athlete earning over 20 reported scholarship offers. Some of the bigger offers coming in included Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Rutgers, South Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Louisville, and Michigan.

Despite flirtations with other schools Myers seemed to be headed to Gainesville all along after repeated trips to Florida’s campus during the offseason.

Florida landing Jayvaughn may have much bigger recruiting implications in the long run. Now that a family member is pledged to the Gators does that mean Jayvaughn’s brother, Nate Craig-Myers, will gravitate towards Florida as well?

The fellow Class of 2016 recruit is considered a 5-star wide receiver out of Tampa Catholic High School. The 6’2”, 205 pound, recruit has some 47 reported offers and is widely considered the top wide receiver in the nation.

Auburn had an early verbal commitment from Craig-Myers but he decommitted on May 6. After unofficially visiting Florida State in mid-July, Craig-Myers has been considered a Seminoles lean.

Florida now has 19 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class including four cornerbacks; Chauncey Gardner, Christopher McWilliams, Aaron Robinson, and Myers.
