VENICE, Fla. – Big cover corners that can help shut down the run are always in high demand at the collegiate level. At Venice High School, a handful of teams have discovered Deylen Platt, a talent who meets the demand. The three-star defender has the size (6-3, 175) and speed, and has put in the extra work this offseason traveling the country with South Florida Express to prove he is that next level guy.

Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, and Oregon State have dropped offers. Interest is building among teams in the region.

USF (South Florida), they are showing the most interest, UCF, and Georgia Southern,” Platt said.

Summer visits, unofficial and official, are coming up for Platt.

“I am thinking about going to Louisville this summer, taking my official to Oregon State in June, and I will probably go to Ole Miss in June as well,” Platt shared.

Conversations with the Cardinals’ coaching staff and with his peers has Platt interested in heading to Louisville.

“Coach Steve Ellis (CB), I have been talking to him, my teammate, (QB) Jadyn Glasser, he went up there and one of my other teammates from a couple of years ago, “MG” (Makhete Gueye), he told me how great the school is; I feel like I will like their environment,” Platt stated.

Without going into depth, the excitement to spend time in Oxford is noticeable.

“Everything – I’m liking everything about Ole Miss,” Platt said.

The Beavers have Platt’s full attention as well.

“I like everything about Oregon State,” Platt shared. “I like the way they coach their DBs, the way they treat their players – I’m liking everything about Oregon State.”

The paid for trip to Corvalis will be taken seriously.

“I want to see if it is really a family, if I like it, and to find out if that is a place for me to go,” Platt stated.

Other possible official visits could include Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss. One team is lining up to work one-on-one with Platt in a camp environment this summer.

“I think I’m going to USF; they want to see me play at their camp,” Platt shared.
