Fort Smith Northside made the necessary adjustments from Week 1 to Week 2 upending Little Rock Central 35-14 Thursday night.

The night began ominously for Central losing starting quarterback Caleb Dallimore on the opening drive of the game and starting running back Richard Hayes. The Tigers (0-2) first drive ended with a 5-yard punt giving the Grizzlies (1-1) a short field. Senior linebacker/running back Deontre Hardwick scored the first points of the game on a 3-yard touchdown run starting the walkaway victory.

Fort Smith’s second scoring drive was aided by a Davin Chitwood to Isiah Soloman 25-yard gain on fourth down and capped with a 9-yard touchdown run by Luke Bolton. Before the half Chitwood found the end zone again on a 35-yard run pushing the score to 20-0.

Without Dallimore and Hayes, Central was kept in check until two fourth quarter scores. Oscar Ataway led the Tigers with 100 yards on 14 carries. Barlow Thompson and Caven Polite scored the Tigers’ touchdowns on the ground.

Chitwood ended the night 7-of-9 for 75 yards and rushed 12 times for 92 yards with a score. Hardwick picked up eight tough yards on two carries with two scores.

Next week Central travels to Bryant and Northside travels to Greenwood.
