An exciting journey along the recruiting trail continues for four-star Georgia athlete Kamron Mikell. The Statesboro High School standout has taken four official visits with two more planned and an unofficial lined up for later this month. The list of schools could add a few more competitors this fall.

Teams understanding Mikell (6-0, 187) is still open to the process are taking advantage of the extra time.

“The people talking to me the most is Georgia Tech, A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Vandy, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida, and Colorado,”” Mikell shared.

Official visits were taken to Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Georgia, and Indiana; Mikell gave insight into each trip.

BREAKDOWN

South Carolina: “It was fun. It was really just a chill time. We didn’t do much, we went bowling. We didn’t do as much. All of them were a fun time. Georgia Tech was probably the most fun.”

Georgia: “I have always been impressed with Georgia. There’s not too much I haven’t seen already at Georgia; I’ve been there about eight times. We went axe throwing; I had never done that before.”

Georgia Tech: “I was with my player host at his house; we rode scooters around campus, and I saw how everything is at night. He has a penthouse; we were hanging out seeing all of Atlanta. That was the best time really.”

Indiana: “We talked about how I would fit in the offense and their offensive scheme. They are running some of the same stuff we are running at my high school. It was easy to pick up what they were talking about. They took us out to eat. It was during the week; they couldn’t do too much.”

Travel plans have been made for three more campuses.

“I am going to A&M next week on July 29,” Mikell stated. “My officials to Kentucky and Tennessee are during the season. I will be at Kentucky Sept. 8-10 and I will be at Tennessee Nov. 17-19 for the Georgia game.”

Mikell spoke about his interest in the Aggies, “I watched them play against Bama last year, they intrigued me,” Mikell said. “I have never been there before. They offered me, I don’t want to count them out because I haven’t been there.”

Mikell continued, “We mostly talk every day really. I talk to coach (Jeremy) Kerr (OA), their tight ends coach, coach (James) Coley, coach (Rohan) Gaines (GA), and coach TJ (Rushing – DB) in the secondary. They are recruiting me at receiver, or whichever position I feel I will be most successful.”

The fall paid for trips to Kentucky and Tennessee may have two other SEC competitors added to the list. Asked if there were any contending official spots that could happen, Mikell stated, “Florida, and if I like it at A&M, I may come back for an official. I still have stuff to look at, I really don’t know if those will be the only ones.”

On the topic of which program is recruiting Mikell to play which position and how he feels about that, he shared, “In some cases, yes, it matters. The only school I would go to, to play defense, would be Georgia.”
