The freshman campaign was phenomenal, and the follow up sophomore year is on pace to be even better. The Sunshine State produces some of the best collegiate receivers year after year, and Naeem Burroughs is on track to represent the state well as part of the 2026 class.

Working against Florida defenses last fall, Burroughs (6-0, 170) led Bolles (Jacksonville) in receptions (36), yards (659), and receiving touchdowns (7).

Burroughs gave an update on the Bulldogs’ 2023 run thus far.

“It started off slow,” Burroughs said. “We are going up and down, but we are getting better. We have a young team; most people don’t know that. They see Bolles on our chest not realizing we are a young team. Our coach is getting us better; I see it as we will keep growing as a team and play ball.”

Through eight games this season, the four-star has hauled in 30 passes covering 549 yards with 10 trips into the end zone. Even when focusing on Burroughs, teams are still having trouble slowing him down.

“I’ve been getting double teamed a lot,” Burroughs stated. “It kind of bothers me in some games. There are some games when I have 100 yards and then it is back to two or three receptions because I am being doubled. It doesn’t bother me that much because the ball is spreading around to my teammates. If it is helping us win, I am okay with that.”

The 2026 prospect is getting help from Wisconsin redshirt receiver Quincy Burroughs.

“Speed, I feel that plays a big factor, making cuts, and my quickness,” Burroughs shared. “My route running has gotten a lot better. My brother talks to me about it. He tells me to get better with the small stuff first. My brother talks to me about stuff I can do to get better going small and not doing too much all at once.

“The game is about getting open, not doing too much. One or two moves and get the ball in my hands. When you get the ball in open spaces it is an easier game.”

The play on the field over the last two seasons has not been missed by college scouts. Teams have laid down 21 offers with more on the horizon.

Ohio State and Oklahoma, I know those two for sure are showing interest,” Burroughs mentioned. “I can’t think of others off the top of my head.”

Two game-day visits have been taken this fall.

I have been to Florida State and Wisconsin,” Burroughs stated. “I have not been out a lot; I’ve been at home working out and recovering trying to keep my body together.”

The time spent with the Seminoles was in Orlando for the season opener.

“I went to the LSU game; that was a great game,” Burroughs said. “I loved the environment from both fanbases. It was a great game honestly. FSU took it; it was a great game. The college game-day atmosphere was great. I was walking around outside the stadium, that atmosphere can be even more exciting.

“At Wisconsin, I was riding around the stadium trying to get to the entrance, there was so much red. We turned and there was so much more red. Wild moments.”

More details from the Sept. 16 trip to Madison were provided.

“I went to the Georgia Southern game,” Burroughs stated. “I spent a lot of time with my brother, he plays up there. I looked at the weekend as being with my brother; I don’t get to see him that much. The game was great. It was slow at first, but Wisconsin got the win.”

On Quincy’s season with the Badgers, Naeem shared, “It is going well. Some bumps and bruises, but it is going well.”

Back-to-back trips with the Seminoles and Badgers are in the works.

“I am going back up to Wisconsin for the Ohio State game next weekend and I may be going to the Duke vs. Florida State game this weekend, but I don’t know for sure yet,” Burroughs stated.

Burroughs gave his thoughts on potentially seeing the pair of Top 25 teams get after it.

“I know the game will be great,” Burroughs said. “I want to see the Florida State coaches again. Two Top 25 teams playing each other, it will be a great game.”

A strong bond with FSU’s staff has already been built.

“It is a great relationship,” Burroughs shared. “Every time I go there, they have great energy. It is a great relationship.”
