The Kirby Smart era officially kicked off with recruiting for Georgia on Christmas day when in-state linebacker Breon Dixon committed to the Bulldogs.

Dixon helped Peachtree Ridge High School to an 8-4 mark in 2015 coming up with 42 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions in 10 games played. Georgia wrapped up the highly regarded linebacker over 20-plus other offers.

On Christmas Eve, Dixon released his Top 7 schools listing: Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma, and TCU. When the list was released, many thought Tennessee was the leader based on the order. The Volunteers hosted Dixon on an unofficial in mid-August.

The Bulldogs have four verbal commits to their 2017 class but have 14 for their 2016 haul.
