Laying it on 5A Georgia teams has a way of getting college coaches’ attention. Zion Ragins showed off the speed, route running, and hands helping secure 32 offers. The 2024 Jones County prospect is still wide open in his recruiting journey but has had a heavy SEC lean of late.

No official visits have been set aside yet by Ragins, but six teams are pushing to be one of five.

“The teams reaching out the most right now are probably South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, USF, FSU, and Oklahoma,” Ragins said.

Some of those same programs have seen Ragins on campus over the last week.

“Last Saturday I was at South Carolina, on Tuesday I was at Georgia, Friday through Sunday I was at ECU, and came back today from Tennessee today (Thursday),” Ragins stated.

The time spent with the Gamecocks helped build tighter bonds.

“It was cool,” Ragins shared. “I got in touch with the coaches and gained a better relationship with them. Practice was phenomenal. Coach (Justin) Stepp (WR) wants me to get back up there with my parents.”

While in Athens, Ragins connected with Bulldogs’ head coach Kirby Smart.

“It went pretty well,” Ragins stated. “I had a conversation with coach Kirby. He was talking about getting me back up there with my parents. My parents have never seen Georgia; he wants them to come up there.”

Ragins shared his thoughts on the UGA visit, “My overall thoughts, it was pretty good. I have been there multiple times; it really is seeing the same things. It felt different watching them practice. You can feel the energy.”

The time spent in Knoxville was a success.

“Tennessee went well,” Ragins said. “I had meetings with them. We went over plays; we run a similar offense. Coach (Kelsey) Pope (WR) and coach (Josh) Heupel were talking to me. We talked about the plays, and they asked me what I learned and if I liked the practice.”

Heading to Orlando for a 7-on-7 tournament may work in Florida’s favor or UCF’s.

“I am going to Orlando this weekend, I am not sure if I am going to Florida or not,” Ragins stated. “Usually when we go to tournaments, we go on visits.”
