After hauling in over 20 offers, the recruiting landscape for Justin Greene is coming into shape. The four-star prospect out of Mountain View High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.) has four SEC official visits set with a fifth one to the powerhouse conference looking like a strong possibility.

Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, and Alabama made Greene’s Lawrenceville campus a hot spot this spring. Three of those programs are letting the defensive end know he is a wanted man in their 2024 recruiting class.

“The teams reaching out the most, there is a three-way tie between South Carolina, Auburn, and Georgia,” Greene said. “The defensive line coaches for those schools are reaching out heavily. We communicate a lot.”

One unofficial visit was taken this spring to Athens.

“I visited Georgia,” Greene stated. “Georgia is not that far away, about 45 minutes from my house.”

Greene continued, “It was good. We were watching defensive film. I was watching film with coach (Tray) Scott, their defensive line coach, and coach (Glenn) Schumann (DC). We were breaking down film.”

The film session allowed the Bulldogs’ staff to show Greene how he would be utilized within their scheme.

“That is why we were watching the film,” Greene shared. “I like the plan. I’m pretty sure I would be the strongside end, to the field, with some spot drops into the flats or into the middle of the field.”

The next round of visits will be on four different college programs’ dimes.

“I will be at Georgia on June 2-4, after that I will be at South Carolina June 9-11, and the next weekend it is Auburn, June 16-18,” Greene said. “Then I am going to LSU after that June 23-25. My June is pretty booked.”

Insight into the four contending programs was shared.

THE BREAKDOWN

Georgia: “Coach Scott and I have been talking a lot. I like their defense, and they put out talent in the draft every year. I think they can develop me.”

South Carolina: “I think they are on the come up. They have put a couple of recruiting classes together. I like coach (Shane) Beamer and coach (Sterling) Lucas (DE); those are my main two connections there.”

Auburn: “Honestly, it is kind of the same with South Carolina – they have a new head coach; I think coach (Hugh) Freeze will do something at Auburn. I like coach Garrett, we talk a lot. He is a good guy.

LSU: “When they got Brian Kelly, schools usually don’t do well with first-year head coaches, but they did. I think they are in a good spot again to do the same thing.”

One program is seemingly always in the discussion when talking about a high-profile recruit from the Southeast. Asked if there are any contending teams for additional official visits, Greene replied, “I just got the Alabama offer, I want to get up there once to feel the energy and talk to the coaches. I have to check it out at least.”

With the four officials set, Greene was asked the status of each school among his favorites.

“The ones I have officials for, those are my top schools,” Greene said. “They have my top interest.”

The upcoming officials will lead to a likely pre-season verbal commitment.

“I will try to commit before my senior year starts, late July or early August,” Greene shared.
