Holding 22 offers, Maurice Davis has found his next level fit. The three-star weakside defensive end out of Dougherty High School (Albany, Ga.) has five favorites ahead of his July 8 commitment.

With the clock ticking down, teams are still working the phone lines for a shot at Davis’s commitment.

“South Florida, Louisville, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, and Memphis are reaching out the most,” Davis stated.

Three official visits were taken, Louisville June 9-11, Ole Miss June 16-18, and South Florida June 22-25. Davis gave insight to each paid for trip.

Louisville: “It went pretty well. They were messing with me. Louisville has good coaches. Louisville has some coaches from the city, there was a vibe. We ate well for sure. We toured the school, and the whole city. They took us to the basketball court, they had a PowerPoint for us, and stuff like that. We also went bowling.”

Ole Miss: “It went pretty well. I think I was the only one on the OV; it went smooth. We went bowling, ate well, and toured the school. I talked with some of the players and spent time with them. All the players, they pretty much like it. Everyone had their own opinions.”

South Florida: “At South Florida, we went downtown, saw the boats and the tall buildings; and we ate on the boat. We ate well. I hung with the players; we talked about the school. I got on the speed boat, and stuff like that. We ate well.

“I liked the speedboat; they were splashing water on us. The hotel I stayed at had a great view of the city.”

Davis shared his top schools, “Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Louisville, South Florida, and Memphis.”

Cincinnati: “I like Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a good school. I don’t know a whole lot about it, but their coaches keep in touch with me.”

Memphis: “Memphis is a good school. I think they are going to the ACC in 2025; that is a good thing about it. I went to a camp there, they worked with me one-on-one with their coaches; I liked their coaching style.”

Asked what will separate the one school from the rest, Davis replied, “The coaches, the school and outside of the school, the players, and the players that have been developed there.”

Davis will announce his commitment on Instagram at 3:00 p.m. ET on July 8.
