High intensity action along the recruiting trail is about to pick back up after fans, coaching staffs, and players were in a lull over the fall months. With high school and college football seasons winding down, recruiting becomes the focus again with collegiate programs ready to stockpile talent in the 2024 class. One player receiving some heavy ACC love as the Early Signing Period draws near is Dr. Michael Krop (Miami) three-star defensive back Kal-El Pascal.

Holding 20 scholarship opportunities, Pascal (6-0.5, 187) listed the teams taking a deep dive on his film after a big senior season.

“ECU, TCU, USF, Florida, and FSU kind of is; I’ve been talking to their coaches,” Pascal stated.

ACC teams are blowing up Pascal’s phone on a daily basis.

“The teams reaching out the most are NC State, Pitt, Syracuse, and Georgia Tech is getting into the mix,” Pascal shared. “USF and the Georgia Bulldogs are also in contact.”

As the Bulldogs march toward another undefeated season, they welcomed the three-star safety to Athens for the Ole Miss showdown.

“The Georgia visit was lit; I’m not going to lie,” Pascal said. “Their team, I love the team. Coach Fran Brown (DB) has been helping me a lot; I want to say thank you to him.

“I love the place, I love the atmosphere there, and the energy is high. Georgia has great players. Their defense is just amazing. Their stadium is loud. During the game I couldn’t even hear myself. When I was talking to my coach right next to me, he couldn’t hear me. The energy is there; it is very high. The coaches are great. It is lit over there.”

The next round of visits will be official.

“NC State and I am setting up an official to Pittsburgh,” Pascal stated. “I hope Georgia Tech gets into the mix of that group.”

The bond with NC State was detailed.

“I absolutely love them,” Pascal said. “I text their head coach, their defensive backs coach, and their receivers coach, coach Joker Phillips. I contact them every day. I love them. They have really built that bond. When I go up there, I really do hope that bond gets stronger and stronger.”

The Panthers have built strong ties with Pascal as well.

“I love Pitt,” Pascal shared. “I love coach their coaches, they have been helping me out. Coach Archie Collins (DB) is a wonderful person. He texts me every day. We talk about how I have been playing and about how they have been playing.”

Back in February, the Yellow Jackets dropped their offer on Pascal.

“Previously, I had been trying to contact them,” Pascal stated. “I sent my film out to a couple of their coaches; they have been loving how I play football. Coach (Kenyatta) Watson (dir. scouting), I text him almost every other day. He is a very cool person. Coach (Travares) Tillman (DB), I am hoping to build that relationship with him and more of their defensive staff.”

ON THE FIELD

Pascal spoke about his senior campaign with the Lightning.

“The season was amazing,” Pascal said. “I played amazing, and some of my teammates played amazing. We didn’t make the playoffs. In our last game that would have sent us to the playoffs, we went into overtime, their player missed a field goal but the ref said it was good. We felt cheated, but you have to move on.”

Asked what he’s showing college coaches on his senior game film, Pascal replied, “I am a big hitter and that I am willing to make maximum effort. Even if the ball is on the other side of the field, I was chasing it down to force fumbles.

“I like when the ball is in my hands, I like to score. I showed that I am a leader. When one of my teammates had a bad game or moment, I was there to let them know they are good. I was letting them know you have to look to the next play and you can’t worry about what just happened, you have to be mentally right in the moment.”
