A quick flick of the wrist and the pigskin flies out of the hand of Ricky Simmons slicing through the Georgia air like a dart hitting the sweet spot in the window for a Grayson Ram to make a play. The 2025 gunslinger is battling to take over the Grayson offensive machine that is a 7A powerhouse this spring ready to show college coaches what he can do this summer during a busy camp circuit.

Three goals are set for Simmons spanning the summer and fall months.

“My goal is to pass for a high percentage with over 3,000 passing yards, and from the camps I am going to, leaving with offers,” Simmons stated. “Those are my three main goals.”

Turning goals into reality, Simmons has been hard after it this spring.

“I have been working on my accuracy, my on-the-field decision making, my pre-snap reads, and knowing what defense is doing before the snap,” Simmons stated. “I have been working on my footwork and my mechanics; I am working on that daily.”

Simmons continued, “My biggest improvement this offseason has been my decision making on the field.”

Extra time has been put into his game reading defenses and anticipating windows playing 7-on-7 ball with Grind Factory.

“Our season went well,” Simmons said. “We won a tournament in Tennessee. In our last tournament in Georgia, we lost in the championship.”

Rising on recruiting radars, Simmons visited Middle Tennessee this spring to watch a practice.

“That visit went well,” Simmons shared. “Coach Brent Stockstill (QB) told me he will be in more contact with me when I am a junior. He told me that he wants to see my varsity film from this upcoming season.”

College coaches are heading to Loganville this spring to scout the Rams in person, this summer Simmons is getting out taking his talents to those coaches.

“I am going to camp and visit with Arkansas State, Auburn, Troy, MTSU, UCF, Mercer, and Central Michigan,” Simmons said.
