The talented ones make the game look easy fooling all of us in the stands to the complexity and physical challenges on the gridiron. Fitting that description, out of St. Michael the Archangel High School in Fredericksburg, Nahshon Wilson (6-2, 190) took apart Virginia defenses with his dual threat abilities walking off the field in 2022 VISAA state champs. The 2025 prospect is back in the pocket with the Warriors this fall ready to repeat and show interested collegiate parties his updated skills.

In stats posted through 10 games last fall, Wilson ran for 388 yards reaching the end zone seven times and air it out for 1,636 yards posting 19 scores.

The offensive set executed was covered, “We run a Spread offense. We are pass-heavy, and we do a lot of RPOs (run-pass option) too. We are fast paced, fast tempo, and we do not get in the huddle.”

The versatility Wilson brings to the game are among his strongest assets.

“I think I can do a little bit of everything well,” Wilson stated. “I can run and pass, I am good at reading defenses, and getting the ball to my playmakers so they can get yards too.”

Keeping defenses guessing is an attribute Wilson brings to the Warriors’ scheme that is not easy to come by.

“I think what sets me apart is being a flexible quarterback,” Wilson shared. “You can’t tell what I am going to do. It may look like I am about to pass it, but I may run on you for 70 yards. I do have a strong arm and I am accurate.”

Per Wilson’s goals this fall, college scouts ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

“For yards, I want to get to around 3,500 yards, 30 passing TDs, no fumbles or interceptions,” Wilson said. “As for running, I want at least 2,000 rushing yards and 15 to 20 touchdowns.”

Part of Wilson’s summer was learning from college coaching staffs at Ole Miss, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.

Asked one thing he learned at camps, Wilson replied, “The one thing I learned is that I have to go 100 percent on every rep. I have to show the colleges what I can do no matter what we are doing. At the camp, I knew I had to set myself apart from everyone else.”

Akron has offered, the next round of scholarship opportunities is loading.

Pitt, Dartmouth, ODU (Old Dominion), Virginia Tech, Maryland, Ohio, Princeton, JMU (James Madison), and Syracuse are showing interest,” Wilson stated.

Dates have not been set, but travel opportunities are coming up allowing Wilson to bond with various coaching staffs.

“Virginia Tech and Maryland, all the schools named, there is a good chance I am visiting them during the season or afterwards,” Wilson shared.

Fans can grab a bag of popcorn for the Wilson 2023 show which begins on Friday in a road contest against Pallotti.
