Houston Cougars have another Big Weekend, Lands Three more Recruits

The Houston Cougars continued their hot recruiting over the summer months landing two more in-state recruits and landing their first out of start player by weekend’s end with wide receivers Keith Corbin and Marquez Stevenson and defensive tackle Aymiel Fleming.
Corbin picked Houston over offers from several top programs including Ole Miss, Nebraska, SMU, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, and TCU. The 6’2”, 175 pound, receiver exploded onto the recruiting scene as a sophomore pulling down 21 passes for 467 yards with seven touchdowns. Corbin’s West Brook High School team finished 5-6 in 2014 seeing their have a breakout season pulling college coaches in from all over the nation.
Stevenson committed to the Cougars on Saturday becoming the first out of state recruit to Houston’s 2016 class. The 5’11”, 163 pound, recruit saw his stock rise by college coaches despite Northwood High School finishing 3-7 in 2014. Teams like Baylor, Nebraska, Notre Dame, SMU, Miami, Memphis, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, and TCU all offered Stevenson representing an important key recruiting battle win for Tom Herman and his staff.
Fleming might be the last defensive tackle in Houston’s 2016 class taken. The 6’2”, 282 pound, athlete fits the mold Herman seems to be going after getting the undersized but quick and strong tackles that they can mold into a dominate AAC type of player.
The La Marque rising star picked Houston over offers from Lamar, Liberty, Texas-San Antonio, SMU, Sam Houston State, Nevada, and Colorado State.
The Cougars now have 15 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. The early emphasis in recruiting efforts has gone on the defensive side of the ball with 10 players committing.
