Houston Cougars Land Prized Class of 2016 RB Mulbah Car

Written by Ryan Wright

The Houston Cougars have done a solid job of constructing their 2016 recruiting class throughout the offseason with a heavy focus on defense. The recruiting tides are shifting in Houston with Tom Herman and company starting to reel in more offensive players landing desired Class of 2016 running back Mulbah Car on Thursday.

Car has been a standout star for John H. Reagan High School in Austin, Texas over the past two seasons. The 5’10”, 190 pound, athlete has made his mark toting the pigskin rushing for 1,178 yards with seven scores as a sophomore and improving his mark on fewer carries with 1,655 yards and an additional 20 touchdowns during the 2014 season.

Showing his versatility, Car also finished with a defensive stat line of 67 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles, and two sacks from the safety position last season.

Car has picked up some impressive offers with BYU, Oregon State, Iowa State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Utah State, Colorado State, Indiana, Nebraska, and Nevada among others all offering.

The announcement became official when Car posted on Twitter, “I’m honored to have received an offer to play football at U of H Today After prayerful consideration I committed to be a cougar!!!!!!”

The recruiting process has not been lost on Car. He has camped at Texas and Texas A&M with reported visits to Iowa State and Nebraska before committing to Houston.

If Houston takes a full class of 25 recruits in 2016, look for final eight offers to be filled with three or four linebackers and three or four offensive linemen. Other additions could include a top wide receiver or two.
