In-State TE Jared Edwards Commits to the Memphis Tigers

The spurts of verbal commitments for the Memphis Tigers is picking back up again. On Thursday (June 9), the Tigers added their seventh overall commitment to the 2017 class when in-state tight end Jared Edwards lined up with Memphis.

Edwards helped Rhea County make a run into the Tennessee 5A semifinals before falling to Sevier County. Along the way to a 10-4 mark, Edwards hauled in seven passes for 186 yards with one score through six games of stats.

The 6’4”, 255 pound, every down tight end was pushing 20 offers by the time he committed to Memphis. Some of the schools extending an offer included Army, Eastern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Appalachian State, Tennessee Tech, UAB, Troy, and Navy. Edwards posted his commitment on Twitter stating:

Memphis has picked up two commits in March, three in May, and tight ends Damien Degruy and Edwards thus far in June. The Tigers now have seven overall commits to their 2017 class.
