Interview

Walter, which areas of your game at right tackle showed the biggest improvement last season?

“My biggest improvement was my aggressiveness.”

When the 2019 season ended with the Stingrays what did you feel were the strengths to your game as a blocker?

“The strengths were my aggressiveness and my kick step in pass-pro. With my run blocking, it was staying low, a more aggressive first punch, and going to the next level.”

All players, even in the NFL have a weakness to their game. What is one weakness you are focusing on above all others this offseason to make a strength in 2020?

“Being quicker with my footwork and my angles with blocking.”

Since the season ended, what else have you been working on with your game?

“Staying square when I kick step.”

Rolling into the weight room, what are your most recent maxes?

“On squat I got 425 pounds and I am benching 295.”

Nice. Once the 2020 season kicks off where all will we see you lining up on the field?

“I want to play every position on the line. Whatever my team needs me to do to help win games, I will do.”

This summer, are there any camps you may go compete at?

“I’m down for Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and any other mega camps that come my way. My whole summer plan is straight camps.”

Going into recruiting. Which schools are showing interest?

“Liberty, Grambling, Houston, and Minnesota.”

How may offers do you have now?

“A couple of D-I and D-II schools have offered.”

Are there any visits this summer that you have planned?

“Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC-Charlotte, and USF were all visits I was going to take before the virus. Miami, UCF, and Florida are upcoming visits I have planned.”

Time for my virus buster. What have you been doing for fun to balance out the downtime this spring?

“Hanging out with my girlfriend and playing Madden.”

Last question. What are the team goals for 2020?

“I know our team is working to go all the way this year. We have some new transfers coming, I believe the whole team is on the level to make it to the championship.”

Walter, thanks for your time today and good luck with the rest of your spring workouts.

“Thank you.”
