As Mission Viejo worked to a 10-2 record during the 2022 season, the Diablos were grooming a rising star in Jaden Williams. The weakside end was trouble off the edge for California offenses racking up 11 tackles for a loss with four sacks and 11 QB hurries. The 2025 prospect is ready to show college coaches what he can do this summer during his camp circuit.

Williams explained the Diablos defensive formations.

“We run a 4-3, but we put in new packages regularly,” Williams stated. “We can run 3-man front.”

How Williams fits and thrives in the scheme was covered.

“I feel that I have a great motor, I give great effort on every play,” Williams said. “I am smart; I make very few mental mistakes. And I am a team player. The strengths to my game are my get off, I am good using my hands, but want to get better, and I am explosive.”

The skills are being fine tuned this spring.

“The biggest things I am working on is speed, staying low, and I am working on using my hands better,” Williams stated.

Interest is coming in from UCLA, Fresno State, Cal, Northern Arizona, and San Diego State, “They are giving me dates for the summer to compete at their camps.”

The Bruins had Williams on their Westwood campus this spring.

“I took one to UCLA with my teammate (Mark Schroller) who committed there,” Williams shared. “I spoke with their new defensive line coach, coach Ikaika (Malloe). He also coaches their outside linebackers. I talked to coach (Chip) Kelly and coach (DeShaun) Foster (RB). It was cool to see them.”

The conversation with coach Malloe was detailed.

“He talked about his coaching style, what he looks for in d-linemen when recruiting, and his manner,” Williams stated. “I am looking for a coach that will push me to be my best on and off the field.”

More west coast visits are being planned with a potential east coast swing.

“I am thinking about going to Arizona, I’d like to see Fresno State, and a couple of other schools on the west coast,” Williams said. “I am also looking to take an east coast trip this summer to visit schools.”

Williams’ summer college camp circuit has not been finalized yet.
