When offensive coordinators in California’s Southwestern League game plan for Chaparral High School’s defense, working around and away from Class of 2021 defensive end Enoka Migao is a key strategy. The 6-5, 245-pound, end was strong against the run and a pocket collapser on passing plays working his stat line to 37 tackles, 16 solo, with 11 tackles for a loss, four sacks, six QB hurries, one pass batted down, a forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in nine games during his junior campaign.

The three-star talent has earned 12 offers for his hard work on the gridiron and is turning the corner on interest, offers, and bonding with coaching staffs over phone calls and Zoom meetings to planning out visits this summer and on into the fall months.

We last caught up with Migao at the Under Armour All-American Camp before he showcased his skills against the best of the best on the west coast. We catch him now midway through his offseason workouts for an update.

Interview

Enoka, for the readers that may have missed our video interview from the Under Armour All-American Camp, how did the 2019 season go for you on the field playing end for Chaparral?

“It was good. I started most games at defensive end, I had a setback missing two or three games, but it was a great season. I had a great pop out season.”

When the season had ended, what did you feel were the strengths to your overall game?

“I understood the game a lot more; I was able to read schemes and I was more into my playbook than the year before. On the field, I was excelling more at the run game and controlling linemen and making the tackle.”

Where will we see you on the field in 2020?

“This year we are moving to a 3-4, but I will still be at end.”

Are you working on any new moves this offseason?

“Lately I’ve been working on my pass rush, a double hand swipe, and being more explosive with my bull rush.”

How have you been preparing this spring for your senior season?

“By hitting the weight room hard and working on my agility on the field with my brother (2021 three-star OL Elia Migao).”

Let’s stick with the weight room. Have you had a chance to max out on some of the pillar lifts like bench and squat?

“Yes. I got 285 on bench, my power clean is 275, and I hit 405 on back squat.”

With recruiting, which college programs are showing interest but have not offered yet?

“Recently, Nebraska has been talking to me and Iowa hit me up. I can’t think of any more off the top of my head.”

How high has the offer total reached?

“I have 12 offers.”

That’s great. Which programs were the last couple to offer?

“Arizona offered on Wednesday and Colorado State offered before that.”

Congrats.

“Thank you.”

Migao’s Offer Sheet: Arizona, Brigham Young, Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan State, Nevada, Oregon State, Sacramento State, San Diego State, UNLV, and Utah State

Going back before the dead period, did you get to take any visits this winter or spring?

“My brother and I visited Boulder before the old coaching staff left, that was the only one we were able to fit in before it (virus) started.”

How did the trip to Colorado go?

“It was good. We liked it, and we liked the staff. Their facilities are great. I like the environment there.”

Once things open back up, are there any planned visits you might take?

“My brother and I are thinking about unofficial visits starting from Oregon working down the coastline to any schools that have offered.”

Which ones are on the possible list?

“Oregon State, San Diego State, Nevada, Arizona for sure, San Jose State, and Sacramento State.”

With all the offers and interests you are receiving, when you get on a call with a college coach what are the things you are hoping to learn about the school and the program?

“For me it is really how much it feels like home and them having that family atmosphere along with the academics and the culture of the football team.”

Last question. Over the next couple of summer months, what are you wanting to accomplish before the 2020 season begins?

“My biggest goal is to hit 315 on bench and power clean by the start of the season.”

Enoka, it was great catching up with you today. I appreciate your time and wish you continued success with your offseason workouts.

“Thank you.”
