The offseason has been extremely busy for Class of 2020 quarterback DJ Ralph. A transfer to San Diego powerhouse Cathedral Catholic took place, upping the spotlight on his upcoming junior season, and a bevy of activity from 7v7 action with Premium to camps, combines, and unofficial visits. Fitting into his hectic schedule of practices, 7v7 tournaments, national camps, and quarterback training sessions, Ralph (6-3, 185) headed up Interstate 5 for the weekend with stops at Stanford and San Jose State. I sat down with Ralph for a quick overview of his visits.

Interview

DJ, let’s get right to it. How did the visit go?

“It went great. I went with Premium. We visited the campus, everything was amazing. The coaches took good care of us. It was a great experience.”

What all did you do?

“When we showed up, we watched a highlight video and then they talked to us about their program. We got to talk to the coaches for a while. After that, we met with individual coaches. Then they went over the basis of their offense, their basic game plans, and schemes.”

How did the coach break down the scheme for you guys?

“The offensive players met with tight ends coach, Coach (Morgan) Turner. He broke it down in steps, but basically explained that they have a slow-temp offense and pick apart the defense as the game goes along.”

You also visited San Jose State this weekend, how did that go?

“It was great. We were supposed to go to their spring game but we ran out of time. I met with their running backs coach, Coach (Alonzo) Carter, he is also their recruiting coordinator. They took us through the campus and onto the field. They talked more about the grades to get into school there, which I found very helpful. I liked that.”

If you will, update me on your latest interests.

“The same schools as before; Notre Dame, Washington, San Jose State, Utah, Arizona, USC, UCLA, and Boise State. Of course, Stanford and San Jose State. Illinois has been in contact with me. They are supposed to come to our school this spring.”

Nice. Do you have any other planned visits upcoming?

“I plan on visiting USC soon and hopefully UCLA too.”

Have you set any college camps yet?

“No, not yet. I do plan on going to some this summer.”

How are your workouts coming along?

“My workouts are going great. I am working out in the morning with my high school team. I am also working out with Premium on the weekend.”

Are you focused on anything specific with your passing?

“I am working on my timing with my throws. That is going great.”

Where are you seeing the biggest gains in your work?

“My biggest gains are my strength and my timing with my throws. Also, no extra steps in the pocket.”

DJ, congratulations on your visits to San Jose State and Stanford. Good luck with the rest of your offseason workouts.

“Thank you.”
