Let the accolades for Campbell McHarg speak for themselves. The Class of 2021 offensive lineman earned first team All-Los Angeles County, first team All-Marmonte League, and became a two-time All-State performer after playing left tackle during the 2019 season with Calabasas High School. In addition to being a road-grader in the trenches, the 6-4, 305-pound, lineman is a versatile talent capable of playing anywhere in the trenches including center. McHarg will have a chance to add to his eight offers this season with Bishop Alemany showing that versatility starting at right tackle with snaps at center.

In an RNG first-look, McHarg stopped by the RNG Lab going in-depth on his growing talents and recruiting options.

Interview

Campbell, you spent the 2019 season guarding the blindside for Class of 2020 three-star QB Jaden Casey (Cal). That offense was prolific with some very talent running backs and receivers. Working within that Spread concept, how did the season go for you overall?

Last year I had a really good season. My sophomore year was a learning season, when it came to me playing as a junior, I was prepared and knew what to expect. I had fun and everyone on the team was great. We had a good season and it was fun.

Passing as much as you guys did, how did your pass-pro improve a year ago?

That offseason I worked a lot on my set and all the fundamentals, I got better and keep working on it.

What about your run blocking? How did you take that to the next level?

I worked on my explosiveness and drive off the ball, and I was finishing people too last season. I was finishing blocks, getting off the ball fast, and staying low.

This offseason you transferred to Bishop Alemany, what offensive scheme will you guys be executing for the 2020 season?

A Spread offense. We will have a strong run game. Our offensive line is very good. We will be pulling a lot and going fast-tempo. I am looking forward to it. We will get in people’s faces this season.

Where will we see you on the field this season with Bishop Alemany?

This season I am playing right tackle. My main position is center or guard, but wherever they need me, I will play this year. I will get reps at center too this season.

You have posted film of your offseason workouts, drills, and camps. Your footwork in your pass-pro looks fantastic. What all have you been working on this spring and summer and which areas are showing the biggest improvements?

Overall, my explosiveness has gone up, my speed, and strength. I have gotten bigger, stronger and faster this offseason. This offseason I have worked on my stance, getting out faster and taking steps out of every position from the right and left side of the ball and at center. My biggest asset is my versatility, I am not just a singular guy.

Looks like you have put a lot of time and effort into the weight room this offseason as well. Have you maxed out this offseason?

I have not maxed out in a long time, before the quarantine. This offseason I have been working with a limited stock of weights, but I am doing as much as I can. Before the quarantine I got 355 on bench, and I know I can put up more than that now. On squat I was at 500.

Impressive. Let’s turn to recruiting. Which schools are showing interest?

Montana State, Oregon State, UPenn, Yale, Holy Cross, Georgetown and Nevada.

How many offers have been extended to you thus far?

Eight: Sac State, Long Island University, Illinois State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Bryant, University of San Diego, and Cal-Poly.

Once the campuses open back up to recruits, are there any potential visits you may take?

Yes. I am going to visit Cal-Poly in the next few weeks to see the campus and NAU. With both visits, I am just looking at the campus and environment not meeting with the coaches.

Once the new season kicks off, what do you want to showcase of your skills on the field?

I want to showcase that I am a dominate force on the offensive line and that I can dominate at the highest level of competition.

For the college football coaches out there who may not be familiar with you and/or your style of play, what do you want those coaches to know about you as a person and as a player?

I am a hard-working guy and I play hard on every play. I feel the hardest working guy out there. My work ethic is really good and I try to get better every day.

Campbell, I like it. Thanks for your time today and good luck with the rest of your workouts this offseason.

Thank you.
