In more ways than one, what Brennon Lamee did during his junior season was beyond impressive. The 6-1, 185-pound, athlete was given a choice between playing corner or receiver during the 2019 season for Clovis North, and as they say, the rest is history. With seniors locked in at corner, Lamee rolled the dice on playing receiver after giving corner his all coming up through the ranks. Once the season ended on the Broncos 6-5 run against California Tri-River League competition, Lamee had earned All-District, All-League, and a spot on the Central Valley’s Top Players list after securing 67 passes for 923 yards with nine scores posted on the board.

Heading into his senior season, Lamee hopes to give the impressive list of college scouts already showing interest even more to go off of as a two-way player for the Broncos. To cover his breakout season and offseason workouts, Lamee headed into the RNG Lab for an exclusive interview.

Interview

Brennon, you were all over the field on offense last season for Clovis North. What offensive set were you guys running?

“We ran a Spread. Before the season something my head coach told me, “I would have to play everywhere” and I was willing and loved doing it.”

Where all were you lining up within the scheme?

“Everywhere: X, Z, H, and Y. Wherever they needed me I went. I had a blast.”

Which routes were you running out of all four positions?

“I ran a lot of routes, and the whole tree every game. Playing all four receiver positions, I did a lot of comebacks, curls, goes and posts.”

How did your overall game improve last season?

“From my sophomore to junior it improved a lot. My route running, speed, explosiveness, and my ability to go up and get the ball – all of it improved. I am very blessed.”

What have you been working on this spring?

“This offseason I have been working on my speed, route running, explosiveness, and staying in the weight room.”

When the 2020 season gets going, what roles are you taking on as a senior?

“Offense will be almost the same for me lining up at all four receiver spots. On defense, I will go in when they need me. I am trying to start at corner this season. Until last year, I had played corner all my life.”

Have you laid down a 40-yard or 100-meter time this offseason?

“Yes, but both were hand-timed. Not official, but I clocked a 4.58 and an 11.34 in the 100.”

If the college camp circuit happens, are there any camps you may compete at this summer?

“The Azusa Pacific camps, a lot of other schools go to that camp. I want to compete at camps like those and the schools that are interested in me, and visit them as well.”

Let’s go into recruiting. Which schools are showing interest but have not offered yet?

“I have talked to a lot of schools, Cal, Oregon, San Jose State, Nevada, Utah, NAU (Northern Arizona), Rice, Colorado, New Mexico, Yale and Columbia.”

Have you visited any programs for a Junior Day or any other reason?

“With my 7v7 team, we visited Arizona, Arizona State, NAU, and UNLV; that was a fun trip.”

Sounds like it. Are there any visits on the schedule coming up?

“Any schools that I have been talking to or is showing me interest, I will be there.”

Besides football, are you competing in any other varsity sports?

“Track, and this upcoming year I am planning on playing basketball. Basketball is one of my favorite sports. The quarantine has me back into it a lot.”

Nothing else to do but shoot for a couple of hours every day?

(Laughs) “Yes.”

With track, which events were you running or were you going to run?

“I was running the 100, 200, and planning on doing the long jump too.”

Brennon, I enjoyed covering ground with you today. Thanks for your time and good luck with your basketball and football workouts.

“Thank you.”
