One of the biggest risers in the 2021 recruiting class in the junior college ranks a season ago was Thadius Harris. Harris (6-0, 176) earned first team All-Conference honors with West Hills College after tallying 39 tackles, with two sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. When the pigskin tees up in the ICCAC for the 2020 season in March, Harris will be taking on a new challenge playing corner for the Iowa Central Tritons.

For an update on his transfer, offseason workouts, and recruitment, Harris sat down for another RNG visit.

Interview

Thad, we last spoke in April then covering the 2019 season. Since our talk in the spring, what have you been working with the small details of your game as a corner?

This offseason I have been working on my technique to stay sound. My focus has been with my technique. That is pretty much it.

With that focus, where are you already seeing improvements?

I am seeing it on my press, with the kick step, I am staying sound, and I am keeping my eyes on the waist line. Backpedaling and having that perfect alignment – I am seeing a lot of improvement.

What have you been doing to add speed and burst to your talents?

Going 100 percent in the weight room and on the field, and doing some work in the sand too. I’ve been doing ladders, footwork drills, and agility.

You transferred to Iowa Central, when do the Tritons start the 2020 season?

We don’t play until March.

With all that is going on, what has been the practice schedule for Iowa Central this spring and summer?

We have been practicing. Today we had weights and then we practice. We practice throughout the week except on the weekends.

What position will you be playing for the Tritons in 2020?

Corner.

What style of defense are you guys executing?

A 3-4.

What are some of the coverages you guys will be running?

We will be running some man and a lot of zone, like Cover 2, 4, and 3.

Let’s catch up on recruiting. Which schools are showing interest?

The same schools as before, Arkansas State, Utah, Iowa State, Iowa, UMass, Texas Tech, Tennessee, TCU, and UAB.

Have you had a chance to take any virtual visits?

Yes, I took one with Arkansas State. They took me on a tour through the campus, weight room, and all their facilities.

I know it is not as great as getting to see the campus in-person, but did you like the visit?

Yes, it was pretty cool.

If the campuses open back up anytime soon, are there any visits you’d like to take?

Yes, sir. I’d like to visit Utah, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Arkansas State.

Thad, thanks for your time today and good luck with your extended workouts this fall until we talk again.

Thank you.
