Based on his junior campaign, and the countless hours put into taking his skills to the next level, the 2020 season for quarterback Forrest Brock promises to be a showcase affair. The 6-3, 180-pound, field general flung the pigskin around the yard a year ago for 1,737 yards with 20 scores and added to his dual-threat abilities with 145 more yards on the ground with another touchdown off 22 totes. The efforts put in by Brock against Division I California squads helped Palisades High School to a 9-2 record while putting the Los Angeles area prospect on the recruiting map. Georgetown has already offered (3.8 GPA) with more schools taking deep looks.

In an RNG stylized Q&A, Brock updates us on his offseason workouts, recruiting, and talks competing at the QB Throw Down Camp in Las Vegas.

Interview

Forrest, how have your offseason workouts been going overall?

They have been going great. I have been in the gym every day and trying to throw four days a week. This offseason I am putting on as much weight as I can. So far I have added 20 pounds, I was at 158 and now I am at 180.

Great job.

Thank you.

Which areas of your mechanics and/or throwing motion have you been fine-tuning this summer?

I need to use my hips more and use more torque when I am throwing, I have been working on that.

Have you been working with a QB coach? If so, what position specific drills have you been doing to improve upon your technique and skills?

Yes, I have been working with Coach (Sam) Fisher. We usually work on arm strength, the deep ball, and trying to understand coverages better.

Touching deeper on that last part of your response. How have you been expanding your mental understanding and approach to the game this offseason?

I follow a bunch of coaches on Instagram. They put up concepts and pass plays, and I watch videos on YouTube.

What offensive set will the Dolphins run during the 2020 season?

A Spread. We are mostly out of gun, rarely go under center. Hopefully I get more carries this season so I can show off my running abilities.

Which routes are you connecting on within the scheme?

I like 10-yard outs, posts, benders, and back shoulder nines.

Over the weekend of Aug. 1, you competed at the QB Throw Down Camp. How did the camp go for you personally?

I thought I threw well. I was surprised I was not chosen for the finals but whatever happens-happens.

What were some of the areas of your game you showcased against other top talent at the camp?

My arm strength. I was able to get the ball there on big boy throws like on bang 8s and comebacks.

There was a classroom portion to the camp, the QBIQ System. What were some of the things you learned during the instructional period that you will apply to your game going forward?

I learned a good amount. I never had sat in the classroom being taught these things in a mental way. They taught us what beats Cover 2 and 3, a post down the middle splits the safeties, things like that.

Let’s talk recruiting. Which schools are showing interest as you prepare for the upcoming season?

Yale, I have been talking to NAU (Northern Arizona), and Eastern Washington is showing a lot of interest.

Have you received that first important offer?

Yes, Georgetown has offered me.

That’s awesome. When the campuses open back up, do you have any planned visits?

Yes, I want to visit Eastern Washington. But I am not positive yet on all my visits. I will see what comes.

Last question. What personal goals have you set for your senior season?

I want over 2,000 passing with over 25 touchdowns and run for at least five touchdowns.

Forrest, it was great covering ground with you today. Wishing you success with the rest of your offseason workouts.

Thank you.
