The Mid-Atlantic Freelance League can be a tough place for offensive players with a guy like Dylan Price roaming the field. The 6-3, 240-pound, defensive end has been a terror for opposing Washington D.C. area teams racking up 74 tackles, 38 solo, with 22 tackles for a los, 10 sacks, 24 quarterback hurries while forcing a fumble and picking one up. Price’s ability to influence any given play for Sidwell Friends High School has caught the eye of college football programs. The Class of 2022 Quakers’ standout is attracting college attention from Duke and William & Mary leading to what should be a very exciting time on the recruiting trail this offseason for Price.

In an RNG exclusive, I sat down with the rising star on the east coast to learn more about his game and how he attacks offenses inflicting his stylized damage.

Interview

Dylan, you have been a monster off the edge for the Quakers this season causing chaos in the opposition’s backfield. What has been the secret to your success this year?

“Mainly having a plan before the snap. I am listening to the play call and trying to make a play.”

What base defense are you guys running and how are you being used in the scheme?

“We started out in a 4-3, but after the first game we went to a 3-5. I am used on the right in with three down. Sometimes I transition to outside linebacker.”

Coming into the year, what goals had you set for yourself?

“The goal was to shut down my side of the field, make the opposing offense game plan against me, and creating havoc at all times.”

Mission accomplished. How have your skills improved throughout the season?

“My skills have improved with me working with my hands more, my pre-snap plan and being faster off the ball. I try to have no wasted motion when attacking an offensive lineman and when working my pass rush moves.”

What do you now feel are the strengths to your game?

“My technique, that is really good, and I can shed blocks with the best of them. I am good at disrupting the play.”

Which game has been your best?

“I would say my best game, that is tough… it would be the St. James or Potomac games.”

Why are those two your top games?

“Because of my run fill. Looking at the stats of those teams before entering our game, their rush yards were down from what they would normally be. I forced them into other areas of their offense.”

What is one obstacle you’ve had to overcome this season on the field that has made you a better player?

“Trying to work against a game plan. If they are running away from my side, I still try to make a play where they cannot scheme me out of their game plan.”

Are you playing on offense this season?

“Not really. I will come in at fullback or tight end, and sometimes running back.”

Last question. The Quakers have one more regular season game left against Maret (5-3). What are you expecting against the Frogs’ offense?

“They have athletes at every position. They cut back and make plays. I have to contain and bottle them up.”

Dylan, it was great covering ground with you today. Good luck against Maret on Friday.

“Thank you.”
