Scouts that have covered 7v7 tournaments both in Southern California and nationally are well-aware of Jordan Anderson (6-0, 160), but now the rest of the country is starting to catch on. Before taking a varsity snap with Warren High School, the Class of 2024 corner/athlete already had offers from Arizona State and Maryland. After the Bears five-game undefeated 2020 season this spring, add Purdue to the list of believers. When the lights turn on this fall, Anderson will not only get to dazzle for a full season in the secondary, but also get to showcase his athleticism on offense and special teams.

Making another visit to the RNG Lab, Anderson updates us on his first varsity campaign with a look inside his developing recruiting choices.

Interview

Jordan, you cracked the Bears varsity roster during the 2020 season seemingly appearing all over the field. Which positions did you play during you freshman season with Warren?

I played safety and nickel, but I didn’t play receiver this year. We had good receivers. I just primarily played one side of the ball. But I did get some plays at quarterback.

Taking that step up in competition, what were some of the big lessons learned early that helped you adapt to the varsity game?

In practice, working with the seniors and older kids. I am a hard hitter. Once I did it in practice, it was easier in the games.

On defense, which areas of your game grew the most?

At nickel, that part of my game grew the most. I covered a lot of fast slot receivers. I got to hit and play in the box too. It was big for me.

Where all will we see you on the field this fall?

I am playing all over, receiver, some safety, corner, maybe some nickel, kick and punt return. It will be a breakout year.

How have you been preparing fundamentally for the role on offense?

I have been working with Coach Griff from Ground Zero. We’ve been working on getting in and out of my breaks and learning how to get inside on a DB playing inside.

And on defense?

I’ve been working with Coach Brown on staying square, getting hands on the receiver, and playing in zone.

What have you been doing to add more agility and speed to your skills?

I have been working on receiver and DB drills trying to get better. I get faster as it goes, I’m not sure if it just runs in the family. This year, I will run track.

A minute ago, you mentioned playing 7v7 with Ground Zero. How did the tournaments go for you?

I played in the Pylon tournament in Vegas. It went well. I played both sides of the ball. They were double and triple teaming me, but I still did well.

Have you been to any national camps this spring or summer?

Yes, sir. I went to Under Armour as a DB. I had three picks there. Then I went to Rivals as a receiver. I went 6 for 6 in their first camp. After that, I went to Georgia for their 5-Star Challenge. I went 4 for 4 there. I blew up from there.

Nice. Have you been to any college camps?

Yes, sir. I was able to get to one. I went to Texas A&M.

What all did you do at the Texas A&M camp?

The 40, vertical jump, and combine testing. I did really well. Hopefully after this year, I get Texas A&M.

Are there anymore camps upcoming for you?

Yes, sir. I’m going to an Oregon camp.

Let’s get into recruiting. Being an underclassman, I know it is hard to fully know, but which programs are showing interest?

USC, I just took an unofficial there. Cal coach just followed me and UNLV is following me too.

How many offers do you have now?

Three.

Which program was the most recent to offer you?

Purdue.

Do you have any visits on the summer schedule?

Oregon will be my next visit.

Very cool. Going back to the USC visit, what did you see and do?

I took a tour around the campus. They showed a lot of love. That will be hard on my recruiting.

Jordan, great getting time in with you again today. Wishing you great success preparing for the upcoming season and with the Oregon camp at the end of the month.

Yes, sir. Thank you.
