Interview

Tharon, today is the big day. Let’s get to it, which team received your verbal commitment?

Memphis.

Congratulations.

Thank you.

When did you notify the Memphis coaching staff?

On Monday.

Who did you tell first on Memphis’ staff and what was their response when you committed?

I told Coach (David) Glidden (TE), and he told the whole coaching staff. They were pumped about it.

This being such a big deal, that moment before you connected with the coaches knowing you were about to tell them about your commitment, what was going through your mind?

I was nervous. I had committed before (North Alabama), but this is my final choice. I was nervous, this is about my future. This is why Memphis is the best option for me.

Now that it is out and your recruiting process is behind you, how does it feel?

I feel relieved. I am no longer stressed about it.

Let’s circle back to the actual recruiting process between you and Memphis. At which position are they recruiting you to play?

Running back.

How do they see you fitting into their scheme?

Like (Kenneth) Gainwell (Memphis). They want to play me how they used him.

When we spoke last you said the school that wins your commitment has been showing love every day giving that family feel. If you will, give us some detail on how that relationship has developed from initial interest, to offer, and then to commitment.

It all started when I put a highlight reel out. Their entire coaching staff followed me and it all took off from there. They’ve showed love since then. I knew that was the place for me.

What will you do or have you done to celebrate this amazing life achievement?

I already told my family, and I went to the cemetery and I dedicated this to my mom at her grave.

Imagining that; seems like a very touching and moving moment. Tharon, I am so very happy for you. Thanks for your time today. Again, congratulations on all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears put into your athletic and academic performances to get to this point. Keep it up.

Thank you, sir.
