Destrehan High School standout receiver Quincy Brown made the game look easy going against 5A Louisiana competition during the 2018 season. The smooth 6-3, 180-pound, wideout came up with an estimated stat line of 28 receptions for 600 yards with 10 touchdowns. Seven SEC programs already know they want the four-star Class of 2021 talent on their team: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Auburn, and Arkansas along with UNLV. And, that has the feel of just the beginning of his recruiting process.

In an RNG exclusive interview, I sat down with one of the top rising talents in Louisiana for a quick update on his season, workouts, and recruitment.

Interview

Quincy, you are a matchup nightmare for any corner due to your size, athleticism, and skill. Do you feel that you have really been challenged in a high school game by a talented corner yet?

“No, to be honest. I don’t think there are any 5A corners that can guard me. I have played against one good corner so far.”

What type of coverages are you typically seeing with teams hoping to slow down your production?

“I am usually playing against a Cover 2 with a safety over the top.”

With your strength and long arms, I am guessing that you and your quarterback have to have a secret hand-signal if a smaller corner is trying to press you with a safety caught between the hash and the middle of the field?

“Yeah. 100 percent.”

Which game last season was your best?

“My best game was against Jesuit.”

Why do you consider that game to be your best?

“I had 4 catches for over 110 yards and three touchdowns.”

That is a good one. Beyond your hands and ability to go get the ball in the red zone on a 50-50 pass, what are some of the other strengths to your game?

“My route running. I had been building on that off last season all throughout the summer. Teams are expecting me to go deep every play. If I get all my routes down, I can be even more effective in our offense.”

What are you working on this spring?

“I am working on my route running and my releases.”

With recruiting, how many offers do you have now?

“I have seven offers.”

Which schools are showing interest in you but have not offered yet?

“Oklahoma is showing interest but hasn’t offered yet.”

Do you have any visits coming up you may take?

“I am planning on visiting Colorado, Texas A&M, and maybe Auburn again.”

Last question. When you watch college football offenses, as a receiver what type of offenses do you like seeing play?

“I like watching the Spread. I like how top teams run the Spread and how they play their receivers. Oklahoma runs the spread, I like how they spread the ball out.”

Quincy, it was great talking to you today. I appreciate your time.

“Thank you.”
