An ankle injury was the only thing that could stop the momentum of Class of 2022 running back Jadarian Price during the 2019 season. Coming off a freshman run that pushed his recruiting status to that of a five-star, Price then rushed for 1,421 yards off 210 totes for Denison High School. Playing in what amounted to a total of seven games as a sophomore, the 5-11, 186-pound, back covered 621 yards on the ground off 129 carries with three touchdowns and scored one receiving touchdown earning first team All-District honors. With all that Price can do on the field, 14 offers have been dropped for the four-star Texas recruit.

In an RNG update interview, Price takes us inside his offseason workouts with an update on his ever-growing recruiting options.

Interview

Jadarian, when you ended the 2019 season, what did you feel were the strengths to your game as a tailback?

“I got smarter as a tailback after the injury learning how to better protect myself in the running game – I got stronger at that. After the injury, I was still building speed at the end of the season, I had a lot of speed last season.”

Since the end of the season, what have you been working on from a strength platform to prepare for your junior run?

“Working on my lower body, getting my legs bulkier, adding more strength and stamina to run the ball 40 times a game.”

That is a heavy workload. 40 times… Be prepared to take good care of your body during the week.

“I did it once my freshman year, it was tough.”

Which technical areas of your game have you been improving upon this spring?

“Using different angles and body twists, I worked on those details a lot lately, my footwork along with overall strength.”

During the spring months, what has been your daily workout routine?

“During quarantine, I was still doing full workouts. I was running hills every day in the evening. Towards the end, everything is open now, I was going back to C4, a workout place in Oklahoma. That place is home to a lot of Texas A&M kids. There was more freedom in Oklahoma to workout. School just opened up, now I am back to working out with my teammates in Denison.”

Are you taking on any new roles 2020?

“You will see me more in the slot, we are looking to pass more with the way our offense is looking, and I will play some receiver too this year.”

Is there an aspect or wrinkle to your game that maybe you did not get to show off last year that you are ready to display this season?

“Due to my ankle injury, I did not get to show off my speed fully and my ability to get past defenders and through the hole faster.”

Let’s talk about your recruiting process. Which schools are showing interest?

“Michigan, I think they are close. I talked to Coach (Jim) Harbaugh (head coach) about a month ago. We had a good talk and he gave me a virtual tour.”

Very cool. How many offers are in your possession?

“I have 14 offers.”

Which teams were the last couple to bestow those honors?

“Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Auburn – they were the most recent.”

Price’s Offer Sheet: Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas, TCU, Tulsa, USC, and UTSA

Since we last spoke, did you get to take any visits?

“No, I was going to LSU but the day I was going, I was on my way to Louisiana, they cancelled it. That was a bummer.”

As soon as the campuses open up, are there any planned on your schedule?

“I definitely want to go to Austin and visit Texas again; that is a for sure. Whichever school gives me a chance to visit their campus, I will be there.”

Careful, you may have 200 invitations to visit campuses this summer and fall. Last question. What goals have you set with the 2020 season in mind?

“My long-term goal, I believe my team has a lot of potential. For me, it is taking on more of a leadership role, we want to play 16 games this season. That is the ultimate goal. For me personally, it is to stay healthy; that is important to me. Leadership and being healthy are the main goals.”

Jadarian, it was great catching up with you today. I am excited to see how the 2020 season goes for you and the Yellow Jackets.

“Thank you.”
