Interview with Acadiana Louisiana Class of 2016 LB/RB Kevin Moore

The Acadiana Wrecking Rams from Lafayette, Louisiana have won back-to-back Louisiana 5A state titles. One of the leaders of the team is linebacker Kevin Moore.  Moore is making a name for himself at the linebacker position with his ability to read plays and disrupt his opponent’s offense earning a ranking as a 3-star recruit by 247Sports.

The 6’1”, 196 pound, recruit had an amazing junior year in which he racked up 148 tackles, five sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  The star linebacker also accumulated nine tackles in the 2014 state title game against the high powered offense of Destrehan. To date the two-way star who also lines up at running back has secured 13 reported offers.

The Class of 2016 recruit already has offers from all around country and should have no problem gathering more interest and offers as his high school career wraps up in 2015.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview we sat down with Kevin and talked about his high school career and his recruiting process.

 

Kevin, first, congratulations on the back to back state titles. What was it like winning the state title for the second straight time in 2014?

“It was a great experience. This second time was better because it was a challenge. My first time was a blowout.”

Coming off your state title in 2013 your team started off the 2014 campaign 2-3. What was the turning point in the season for your team?

“We had a couple of linemen that got hurt and we had a fumbling problem. Our whole team got better and our offense got healthy. We had to overcome a lot of adversity after the coaches moved me to quarterback.”

What are your thoughts on your individual performance in 2014?

“I think I had a really good season.  I wasn’t too impressed with my defensive play in the end of the season.”

Did you receive any individual honors?

“First-Team Defense All-District, First-Team Defense All-Sate, All District MVP, and District 3-5A Defensive Player of the Year.”

What are your strengths on the field?

“I’m a real smooth player. I’m quick. I read plays quickly and I can cover.”

What was it like playing both sides of the ball?

“I had fun doing it. I got to make plays on both sides of the ball.”

What schools have you received offers from?

“Many including Arizona State, Cal, Kansas State, Louisville, and Miami.”

Are there any schools you have received interest from but they haven’t offered you yet?

“TCU, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Georgia, and Houston.”

What kind of feedback have you received from the schools that are recruiting you?

“I’m quick. I know how to read and have great instincts.”

What are you working on the most this offseason?

“I’m working one everything because I feel like I need to get better at everything.”

How does Acadiana look going into this year?

“Our defense looks great and our offense is young. We have a lot of work to do but we look good.”

How confident are you that Acadiana can win their third straight state title?

“I’m really confident because we have the talent.”

What motivates you to give 100 percent effort out there on the football field?

“I know what I am working for.”

Who has made the biggest impact on your football career?

“My coach (Ted Davidson), he moved me to linebacker because they didn’t have any depth and it went up from there.”
