Captain Shreve High School, located in Shreveport, had an emotional 2015 season as it was the first season under head coach Bryant Sepulvado after the sudden passing of former head coach Richard Lary in April 2015. In his first season at the helm, Coach Sepulvado led a young Gators team to a 3-7 record in Louisiana’s tough District 1-5A.

The good news for Captain Shreve fans is that most of the team returns in 2016 including junior quarterback Lucas Grubb. Grubb had a good first season at the varsity level where he threw for 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns.

This summer, the 5’11”, 175 pound, sign-caller has attended a LSU camp and has performed well at 7 on 7 tournaments in preparation for his junior season. The class of 2018 prospect has already set his personal goals for the season which includes stepping up his rushing ability, cutting down on bad decisions, and leading his team to success in their tough district.

It will be exciting to watch Grubb lead the Gators in 2016.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Lucas to talk about his thoughts on his sophomore season and how he is preparing for his junior season.

Interview

Lucas, what are your thoughts on the 2015 season?

“We definitely could have done better however we were pretty young as a whole on offense and had a few leaders.”

What are your thoughts on your individual performance last season?

“I feel that last year I did pretty decent for my first varsity year as a sophomore. I was not happy with my touchdown to interception ratio.”

What are your strengths on the football field?

“My strengths on the field are being able to keep a good composure and being able to throw the deep ball while being able to make the quick pre-snap decisions.”

What are your stats from last year?

“1,200 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.”

“We have acquired quite the plethora of new coaches and we have been repping out our offense this off-season to grasp a habitual understanding of it.”

“We look much better than last year. We are more experienced and confident in our ability to execute against our 5A opponents.”

“Absolutely. I plan on cutting down on bad decisions while passing and also stepping up my rushing ability. I will lead my team to success and give God the glory in the midst of it all.”

“My team and I are most looking forward to defeating Byrd this year. They have been our long-time rival and we plan to change the culture.”
