The 2019 season for Narbonne was masterful through the nine-game schedule averaging 41 points per game with an offense loaded with next level talent. Balancing out the passing game led by five-star 2021 quarterback Jake Garcia was Class of 2020 all-purpose back Jack Brown. Brown (5-10, 165) led the Gauchos on the ground producing 603 yards off just 74 totes with nine trips into the end zone. On passing downs, he secured nine for 192 more yards with three more scores going up on the board.

To talk about Brown’s senior season with Narbonne and his focus over the offseason before enrolling in college, we sat down for a quick one-on-one interview.

Interview

Jack, Narbonne was seemingly untouchable during the 2019 season on the field. What was clicking for you guys on offense leading to all the dominating performances?

“Going hard every day in practice, grinding, and building our chemistry – we were in sync this year.”

You stood out on a crowded roster loaded with next level talent at running back and in the slot. What were some of the called plays for you this season to get you the rock?

“Either jet sweeps, counters, bubbles, or swing routes out of the backfield.”

How did your game grow as a running back in 2019?

“My speed, that was a big thing for me in the offseason. Reading the holes and deciding where I was going quicker was an improvement.”

And as a pass receiver, how did that part of your game improve?

“I ran quicker routes, made quicker decisions, and I knew the coverages. I knew how to win in man coverage.”

Of the games played this season, which was your best personal performance?

“This year, our game against San Pedro was my best. I had two receiving and two rushing touchdowns.”

What was a challenge you faced and overcame during the 2019 season?

“Playing through an ankle injury.”

Are you doing any extra outside training?

“Yes, I am working out with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).”

This offseason, what will be the focus of workouts?

“I will work on my speed; I feel that I can get faster and I will run track to help with that. I will work on my awareness out of the backfield and in the slot, distances on my routes, and clean up any mistakes to get ready for the season.”

Jack, thanks for your time today going over your senior season. Good luck with your offseason workouts.

“Thank you.”
