Iowa adds verbal commitment No. 17, land 3-star DE out of New Jersey

The Iowa Hawkeyes continued their roll through the month of June adding their 13th verbal commitment in the month of June landing New Jersey defensive end/outside linebacker Brandon Simon.
Simon, 6’2”, 240 pounds, helped lead Don Bosco Prep to a 7-5 record in 2014 and jumped on the recruiting map for several schools throughout the region. The Ironmen standout has reported offers from East Carolina, Syracuse, Buffalo, Boston College, Connecticut, Monmouth, James Madison, and Army with teams like Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Rutgers showing interest.
The Hawkeyes now have 17 total verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class with eight of the pledges slated to play defense. Of the eight seven are front seven defenders.
The addition of Simon is also the second consecutive recruit Iowa has taken out of Rutgers backyard with Frank Darby joining the list on Monday.
