News coming out of the Lone Star State for the Hawkeyes was nothing but positive when 4-star running back Eno Benjamin verbally committed to Iowa on Monday.

Benjamin worked his way into being one of the top running backs in the 2017 class rushing for 1,724 yards with 25 touchdowns during his sophomore season and an amazing 2,652 yards with 41 scores during his junior campaign. The Wylie High School star showed his every down abilities catching 23 passes for 327 yards with three additional scores over the past two seasons.

Teams up and down the college football spectrum wanted Benjamin on their squad. Pushing nearly 30 reported Division-I offers, Benjamin had teams like Cal, Miami, Arizona State, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Utah, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Arizona, Boise State, Duke, and Boston College all after him.

Benjamin took unofficial visits to Northwestern, Iowa, and Kansas in early March and visited Baylor and LSU along the way before making his commitment to the Hawkeyes.

Iowa’s fan base got the good news via Twitter when Benjamin posted, “Excited to announce I am officially committing to the University of Iowa! #SWARM.” Another added bragging right for the coaching staff and fan base, Benjamin is a U.S. Army All-Bowl invitee.

The Hawkeyes’ class is shaping up to be a very talented bunch. Iowa now has nine verbal commitments highlighted by 5-star defensive end A.J. Epenesa.
