Iowa keeps run on 2017 Cornerbacks with Florida’s 3-Star Josh Turner

Over the next couple of years, Iowa is setting up to have, at the very minimum, a very competitive secondary especially at cornerback. On Thursday, the Hawkeyes added a fifth potential corner in Florida’s Josh Turner.

Turner was a standout corner for American Heritage in 2015 helping the Stallions to the 3A championship game. The 6-0, 175 pound, cover corner impressed throughout his junior season and during off-season camps earning over 20 offers before committing to Iowa.

The teams hoping to land Turner included Boston College, Columbia, South Florida, Purdue, Navy, FIU, Columbia, Southern Miss, Central Florida, and Wisconsin among others. Thompson made his decision public to a national audience via Twitter posting the following statement:

Iowa has put an early heavy emphasis on recruiting defensive players for the 2017 class. Nine of the 16 commits are expected to play defense with options for Ivory Kelly-Martin and Jacob Coons.
