Six weeks after offering Ohio Class 2017 defensive end Dan Sichterman, Iowa State was able to reel him in gaining his pledge on Sunday.

Sichterman started popping up on recruiting radars after a standout junior season earning first team All-ECC honors for Kings High School. The 6-3, 235 pound, end was a constant presence in the opposition’s backfield coming up with 10 sacks during a 12-3 season for the Cincinnati area squad.

College coaches throughout the region took a shine to Sichterman with 16 reported offers extended. Among the many hoping to sway Sichterman included Davidson, Connecticut, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, Holy Cross, Fordham, and Youngstown State. Before helping the Knights to an 8-2 regular season, their standout end committed to Ball State on Aug. 9.

Sichterman made his announcement public news via Twitter posting, “After a great visit, I’m very excited to announce that I will be flipping my commitment to Iowa State University! #CyclONENation #Big12.”

A heavy emphasis of the Cyclones’ 2017 class has been on defense, especially along the line. Of the 20 verbal commits, 10 are slated to play defense with six expected to play in the trenches. Rivals ranks ISU’s recruiting class No. 26 in the nation while 247Sports has the Cyclones No. 37 nationally, third overall in the Big 12.
