Running back Nash Money burst onto the scene during his sophomore season in 2020 as the young tailback rushed for 773 yards and nine touchdowns for the Wellsville Eagles who finished 4-5. This 5’9”, 175-pound, playmaker plays with good athleticism and footwork. Money also has the ability to make plays in the passing game. In his overall game, he possesses versatility and toughness.

After attending several camps this summer, Money is already drawing college interest and it’s only a matter of time before he reels in his first college offer.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Nash to talk about his preparations for his junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Nash, what are your strengths on the football field?

I think I have good versatility, either running between the tackles or catching the ball out of the backfield, gaining yards, and my ability to get yards after contact.

What would you say was your best game last year and why?

My best game by stats was against West Franklin at home, but I think where I made the most impact was the first round of playoffs against Riverton. We won by two points; I had 205 rushing yards having to fight through the whole game.

Did you receive any individual honors?

Last year I was first-team offense All-District, second-team offense All-League, first team All-Area, and honorable mention All-State.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

My fastest 40-yard dash was a 4.56 at Emporia State’s football camp.

How do your skills fit into Wellsville’s offense?

My skills fit into Wellsville’s offense because I am a fast and powerful runner that can also catch the ball. Our head coach, Mike Berg, likes to have me run, catch and sometimes go out to receiver.

What do you like about playing running back?

I like how as a running back you can easily take the hit to anybody and you can almost always gain yards if you just run hard and run behind your pads.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

I really try to model my game after Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara.

What have you been working on the most this offseason?

This offseason I have worked a lot of my strength and balance. I love to be in the weight room doing either of those, and I’ve also been trying to work on my knowledge of football in general.

What is your mindset going into your junior season?

My mindset this season is to rush for 1,500 yards and do everything for my team to try to make it to a state championship for the first time in school history.

What are your goals for the 2021 season?

This season I want to rush for at least 1,000 rushing but the main goal is 1,500, and I would like to get a Division I scholarship.

Did you attend any camps this summer?

This summer I went to a Rivals combine in Dallas, Tex., and then I went to Kansas States’ full-padded camps twice. I also attended Emporia States camp along with University of Kansas’ camp.

Are you receiving interest from any schools?

I’m receiving a little bit of interest from Kansas State University right now.

Do you play any other sports at Wellsville High?

Last year I also did track, going to state for the 4×400 placing 15th overall.

Who is your role model and why?

My role model is Christian McCaffrey due to how he was criticized heavily when he came into the NFL for being too small and not being able to run between the tackles effectively, and also how he is 1 of 3 people to be in the 1,000-1,000 club in the NFL.

What is your GPA?

My GPA last year was 3.2 which I’m not entirely happy about, I’m focusing on a 4.0 this year.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

My favorite quote right now is, “I fear no one but respect everyone.” – Roger Federer

Thank you for your time and good luck this season.

Thank you, sir.
