Ethan Wilson is a rising star in the secondary for the Aces of Wichita East High School. This young phenom helped lead the Aces to a 7-2 record in 2020 and has aspirations of achieving both personal and team goals in 2021.

This 5’9”, 175-pound, playmaker has great coverage abilities and field vision. He also possesses good speed and quickness.

This Class of 2023 prospect is currently working hard to get his name out there by attending combines this summer and has aspirations to earn his first college offer in the near future.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Ethan to talk about his sophomore season and his preparations for his junior season.

Interview

Ethan, how would you grade your performance in your sophomore season?

I would say I had an okay season. I feel like I definitely need to improve in all aspects of my game but overall it was good.

What would you say was your best game and why?

My best game came against North, because I had an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

What are your strengths on the football field?

My coverage abilities especially in 50/50 balls.

What kind of defensive scheme does your school run?

We run a 4-2-5 defense.

How do your skills fit into this scheme?

I am a man-to-man defensive back so I can normally lock up a slot and I can play flats in Cover 3 when needed.

What is your favorite thing about playing defensive back?

Covering, because I feel like I can lock up a handful of the best receivers in 6A.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.5.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Tyrann Mathieu, because I like how he isn’t the tallest, fastest or strongest but he’s not afraid to stick his nose in a play.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I play basketball and run track.

Have you attended any camps this off-season?

I’ve been to two combines.

What are you working on the most this off-season?

I am mostly working on my upper body and working on my reaction time.

What is your GPA?

3.7.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

My favorite quote is, “Take like one step at a time until your time runs out.”

What are your goals for your junior season?

My goals are to make first-team defense, hopefully earn my first offer, and win state.

Thank you for your time today.

Thank you, sir.
