Overview
Kevin Coker took over as head coach of West Franklin after the 2013 season and is trying to lead the Falcons to their first winning season since 2008. West Franklin suffered a disappointing season in 2014 suffering several heartbreaking losses that included a 13-10 defeat at Herington and a 14-11 loss against Council Grove.

The Falcons bring back some key players who play both sides of the ball to lead the team going into 2015 bringing high expectations to the fan base. West Franklin opens the season on the road at Chase County. They also have some key games when they host Herington on Sept. 25 and travel to Central Heights on Oct. 16.

Offense
The Falcons scored 14.4 points a game last season and return a core group of experienced players to lead the offense. The 2015 season will be exciting to watch as West Franklin is looking to run a fast-style up-temp offense. Senior quarterback Cody Renfro is the expected starter of Coker’s new offense.

Nick Steerter 2

Senior running back Nick Streeter, listed at 5’10”, 160 pounds, is another returning offensive star. Streeter had just over 600 rushing yards with an average of 7.3 yards per carry. Senior Tate Jackson (5’11”, 175) is the leading returning receiver for.

The offensive line is led by 6’0”, 215 pound, junior Alexander Yelland and 5’9”, 195 pound, senior Hunter Hollon.

Defense
West Franklin gave up 27.2 points a game a year ago. The Falcons will be quite young on the defensive side of the ball again but a lot of young players will gain some much needed experience during the season. Trenton Worley and Nick Streeter are the leaders of the Falcons’ secondary.

Streeter had 56 tackles and two interceptions at the safety position. Worley had two interceptions at cornerback. Junior Shane Renfro (5’10”, 215) is one of the leaders of the defensive line. Renfro had four sacks in 2014. Seniors Cole Alterman and Hunter Hollon will be key contributors at linebacker.
