The ever changing winds of the college football recruiting landscape shifted on Friday for UCLA when 2017 linebacker Rahyme Johnson decommitted from the Bruins.

Johnson worked his way into three-star status in 2015 with Salesian High School. The Mustangs went 5-5 but the roster was loaded with underclassmen that took their lumps but should be a very tough team to beat in 2016. Johnson caught two passes for 65 yards but stood out on defense with 52 tackles in eight games along with three passes defended and one sack.

The change of heart went public Friday morning with Johnson posting his decision on Twitter:

Johnson has offers from Cal, Nebraska, San Diego State, Washington, Notre Dame, Fresno State, Illinois, BYU, Washington State, Oregon State, and Utah among others. There has been a shift in southern California with top recruits taking a big interest in Nebraska. Johnson has been open in his interest with Nebraska and about the pipeline the Cornhuskers have laid throughout the Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

The Bruins have had early success on the recruiting trail but have recently been in a backward slide after losing several key commitments. UCLA’s class is now down to three commits but all three are considered four-star recruits.
