Louisiana 2015 High School Football 4A Quarterfinal Preview and Update

We have reached the quarterfinals in the Louisiana 4A playoffs as eight teams have punched their ticket continuing great seasons with a chance for a state championship. The second round provided fans with some great action as there were several upsets and exciting games including No. 13 McDonogh 35 blowing out No. 4 Benton 48-0. No. 14 Edna Karr defeated No. 3 Cecilia 47-28 and No. 11 Bastrop upset No. 6 Assumption 28-13. One exciting game was when No. 2 Crowley squeaked past No. 18 Livonia 41-35.

In the eight games in the second round, there were some great performances including McDonogh 35 running back Darius May. May ran for 225 yards and four touchdowns against Benton. Bastrop star wide receiver Isaiah Graham had 146 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs in his team’s victory over Assumption. Neville athlete Jaiden Cole led his team with 170 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their win over Carencro.

Along with these star athletes there are other great players who have guided their team to the semifinals including Neville defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence, North DeSoto running backs Delmonte Hall and Dennis Hall, Warren Easton linebacker Pernell Jefferson (Oklahoma) and wide receiver Clyde Leflore-Chriss, McDonogh 35 defensive end Sci Martin and athlete Clifford Chattman (LSU), Edna Karr defensive end Andre Anthony (LSU) and defensive tackle Aaron Kent (Southeastern Louisiana), Bastrop linebacker Travez Moore, Franklinton defensive back Martavius James, and Crowley wide receiver John Marceaux.

Some storylines to follow in the quarterfinal games this Friday will be whether or not there will be any double-digit seeds in the semifinals? Who will be win the big matchup in Stonewall as North DeSoto hosts Neville? Can Warren Easton get to the semifinals for the second straight year? Can Edna Karr get past Bastrop and get to the semis for the second time in three years?  All this and more will be answered as four teams clinch a spot in the next round.

No. 1 Neville at No. 9 North DeSoto

Neville routed Carencro, 38-12, while North DeSoto got past Loranger, 42-35

No. 5 Warren Easton at No. 13 McDonogh 35

Warren Easton beat Plaquemine, 37-20, while McDonogh 35 destroyed Benton, 48-0

No. 14 Edna Karr at No. 11 Bastrop

Edna Karr upset Cecilia, 47-28, while Bastrop beat Assumption, 28-13

No. 10 Franklinton at No. 2 Crowley

Franklinton escaped past Minden, 35-34, while Crowley squeaked past Livonia, 41-35
