Overview
For the second consecutive season Acadiana won the Louisiana 5A state championship. 2014 was a tougher championship season than 2013 as the Rams lost four regular season games and entered the playoffs as the No. 15 seed. Acadiana was clicking on all cylinders when playoff time arrived. The Rams outscored their opponents 112-45 in the playoffs including defeating Destrehan 23-7 in the championship game.

Acadiana turned their season around when star linebacker Kevin Moore was inserted into the quarterback position in Week 10. Moore dominated on both sides of the ball last season but will exclusively play linebacker in 2015. The Rams return Moore and several other key players including Arkansas State commit Javonis Isaac however they lose three running backs and tight end Bry’Keithon Mouton who is now at LSU.

A key game for Acadiana will be their first district game at Barbe, who beat the Rams 17-14 in 2014.

Offense
Acadiana scored 27.1 points a game in 2014 and should have another explosive offense in 2015. Kevin Moore will relinquish the quarterback duties to junior Myles Hutchinson. Hutchinson is an athletic signal caller who has worked to improve his passing ability during the offseason. The 5’10” quarterback started two games early last year.

The Rams lost three running backs last year and will rely on the running back rotation of senior Kesean Carter, junior La’Dathian Levine, junior Brian Lebon, and sophomore Ziggy Francis.

Seniors Brandon Duhon (5’9″, 160 pounds) and Logan Bourque (5’10”, 165) will be the new starting wide receivers. Javonis Isaac (6’3″, 225) had two touchdown receptions a year ago and will be the starting tight end in 2015. Two key offensive lineman this season are senior Ethan Bellman (6’0″, 220) and sophomore Dequanis Robinson (6’4″, 275).

Defense
The Rams only bring back four returning starters from a defense that only gave up 16 points a game last year. The leader of defense in 2015 will undoubtedly be linebacker Kevin Moore. The 6’1″, 196 pound, star had 148 tackles, seven pass breakups, four interceptions, and three forced fumbles in his junior year. Moore recently announced his Top 5 list which included Texas, Texas Tech, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Acadiana has two returning starters in their secondary, the senior duo of Javonte Edmond (5’10”, 155) and Jayrin Wilson (5’11”, 160). Senior Malik George (6’3″, 210) will be the main man on the young defensive line. George currently has four Division-I offers from Alcorn State, McNeese State, Nicholls State and Stephen F. Austin. Acadiana will rely on these four defensive leaders as they start on the road to their third straight state title.
