Head Coach: Stephen Robicheaux
Mascot: Wildcats
District: 7-5A
2014: 14-1
Location: Destrehan, Louisiana

Overview
The Wildcats went on an amazing run last season as they won their first 14 games and advanced all the way to the state championship game. Unfortunately Destrehan was upset by Acadiana, 23-7 ending a great season.

Destrehan lost quite a few offensive weapons due to graduation including running backs Will Matthews (Kent State) and Kirk Merrit (Oregon). The Wildcats also lost quarterback Marquise Darensbourg as he transferred to East St. John.

The good news for Wildcat fans is that its quarterback Kohen Granier’s turn to lead the offense and defense linemen Glen Logan, a LSU commit and Gerald Wilbon, a Texas commit, return to lead the defensive unit.

A key game for Destrehan will be on Sept. 25 when they travel to Hahnville. The Wildcats beat Hahnville twice last season including once in the playoffs. The Tigers will want revenge against the Wildcats.

Offense
The Destrehan offense scored 36.2 points a game a year ago and returns many of those talented and athletic offensive weapons. Junior Kohen Granier (6’0″, 175) will lead the team at quarterback and will fire the ball to his group of receivers including seniors Tramain Armstrong (6’0″, 170) and John Williams (5’9″, 165). Williams had nine touchdown receptions in his junior season. Senior Karon Taylor (5’10”, 170 pounds) is expected to show off his athletic skills at both receiver and running back.

Senior Colby Duhon (6’3″, 210) will once again be the team’s tight end. The most inexperienced part of this year’s offense will be the offensive line as the coaches have to replace all the starters from last year. Despite the lack of experience there will still be talent along the line with tackles Jacob Wentz (6’6″, 265) and Dakota Torbert (6’4″, 300).

Defense
The Wildcats only gave up an astounding 10.8 points per game in 2014. Destrehan lost some of their defensive leaders but the expectations are just as high around this unit going into the 2015 season to put on another great performance. The two returning big men up front are defensive tackles Glen Logan (6’4″, 290) and Gerald Wilbon (6’3″, 305).

Senior linebackers Kalen Brown (5’10”, 216) and Diontre Flowers (6’2″, 205) will dominate the middle of the field. Junior safety Shane Wright (5’10”, 185) and senior cornerback Alvin Joseph (5’9″, 170) are expected to be the leaders in the Wildcats’ secondary.

Destrehan has more than enough talent on the defensive side of the ball to make another deep run in the playoffs.
