The Green Oaks High School football program has been turned around since the hiring of Terrence Isaac. Coach Isaac is heading into his fourth season at the helm after leading the Giants to a 13-20 record overall including 1-2 in the playoffs. After reaching the second round in 2019, Coach Isaac and his star-studded senior class are ready to take this program to an even higher level and make a deeper postseason run.

Offense

In 2019 the Giants scored 20.5 points per game. The general of this explosive offense is senior quarterback Keith Baker, who has thrown 7,300 yards and 65 yards during his career including 2,785 yards and 23 touchdowns during his junior campaign. The three weapons at the wide receiver position are junior Decoldest Crawford (LSU commit), senior Minion Jackson and senior Terrence Isaac Jr. (Valparaiso commit). Crawford caught 50 passes for 990 yards and eight touchdowns, Jackson snagged 52 passes for 961 and eight touchdowns while Isaac caught 40 passes for 648 yards.

Senior Ja’Me Sanders will be the play-maker in the Green Oaks backfield after rushing for 867 yards and 11 touchdowns on 172 carries last season. One offensive lineman to watch is freshman offensive guard Javion Marshall, who started as an eighth grader last year and is poised for a breakout season. While talking about his offense Coach Isaac added, “We’re going to come off that bus ready to throw, it’s what we do however we have the ability to make plays in the running game as well.”

Defense

Last season Green Oaks gave up 25.3 points per contest, and there are some very talented prospects all over this defense returning in 2020. On the defensive line it all starts with senior Kelvionne Chism, who had 51 tackles and one sack in 2019. Coach Isaac describes Chism as an “energizer bunny who works hard and never takes a play off.”

The linebackers are led by senior Jaden Moore who has committed to the University of Tulsa. The 6’2”, 215-pound, machine had 120 total tackles including four a loss, three sacks and two interceptions during his junior season. The Giants secondary is led by senior cornerback Jyron Ellis and senior safety Georderrial Williams, both have multiple college offers. Last season, Ellis racked up 28 total tackles and an interception while Williams had 62 total tackles.

On the topic of his defense, Coach Isaac explained, “Our defensive coordinator doesn’t have a specific scheme however we make adjustments each week depending on the opponent.”

Schedule and Breakdown

Due to the coronavirus, the football season in Louisiana has been cut down to eight regular season games starting on October 8; the first two games on the schedule are cancelled. “It’s frustrating but I understand the need to be cautious. We’ll now start the season in the annual Soul Bowl game against Booker T. Washington which was originally our Week 3 game,” said Coach Isaac while talking about the new start date and schedule.
