One of the rising gridiron stars in the state of Louisiana is Lafayette Christian Academy’s Brylan Green. The junior standout is not only a first team All-State defensive back but also an All-District outfielder on the baseball team. The 5’11”, 170-pound, defensive back racked up 64 total tackles and six interceptions during his sophomore season in 2019. During the Knight’s Week 1 game this season against Acadiana, Green dominated with 12 total tackles.

This Class of 2022 three-star recruit currently has six offers including one from Mississippi State and Colorado and is also drawing interest from a number of other D-I schools including Nebraska and Miami.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Brylan to talk about his high school career and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Brylan, how would you grade your individual performance in your week one game last Friday?

I felt my individual performance was around a 7 to an 8 in the first game of the season.

How would you grade your individual performance from your sophomore season?

I would grade my individual performance last year as a 7.

What was your most memorable moment in 2019?

My most memorable moment last year was winning our state championship.

What are your strengths on the football field?

A few of my strengths I would say are, one, being the “quarterback” of my defense. Just being able to put guys in places and being able to put our team in better situations was a key part of being the “quarterback” of my defense. Another thing I would say is a strength for me is that I can cover, and also play in the box and tackle. Being able to cover and also not be scared of a little contact makes you a more versatile player.

What was your practice and workout schedule during the offseason?

My practice and workout schedules were a little hectic because I also had summer baseball so I would have to get on Zoom when I was out of the state and whenever I was home. We had workouts from 7:00 to 9:00 and then practice from 10:00 to 12:00.

What is one area of your game where you have seen the most improvement since the start of the offseason?

The one area I’ve seen most improvement in is definitely studying film to make the game much easier and slower.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

My fastest 40-yard dash time is 4.54.

Is there a current NFL player that you try to model your game after?

There is not really a true answer to who I try to model my game after because I just try to take bits and pieces of things from every individual person I watch.

Do you have any college offers at this time?

I have offers from Mississippi State, Memphis, Colorado, Kansas, Grambling State and South Alabama.

Are there any other schools showing you interest?

The schools showing interest are Nebraska, Miami, Louisville, Washington State, Yale, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Houston, and Princeton University.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I’m an outfielder on the baseball team.

What do you like most about playing at Lafayette Christian Academy?

The thing I enjoy most about playing for Lafayette Christian Academy is that we all play for each other. The brotherhood is one of the key things to our success and is why we’ve won three state championships in a row.

Who has had the biggest impact on your high school career?

The biggest impact on my high school career is my teammates. They push me to bring everything I have to the table each and every day. If they feel as though I’m slacking, they will get on my tail to make sure I’m giving 100 percent. Speaking back on the last question, that’s where the brotherhood part kicks in.

What game left on the schedule are you most looking forward to playing?

The game left on our schedule that I’m looking for the most is not a definite answer. I look forward to playing everyone who is in our way of winning our fourth state title.

What are your goals for the rest of your junior season?

A personal goal for me during my junior campaign is being more of a vocal leader. Of course, getting first team All-State and All-District and all that is cool, but I think me being a leader and making everyone else around me better would be my main goal.

What is your GPA?

I have a 3.57 GPA.

Do you have a favorite quote?

My favorite quote: “Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.” – Denis Waitley.

Thank you for your time and good luck the rest of your season.

Thank you, sir.
