Louisiana Football: Interview with Captain Shreve 2021 CB Xavion Mandigo

Shreveport’s Captain Shreve High School has athletes graduate every year that go on to fulfill their dreams of playing college football. One of the next prospects that will make this leap is senior cornerback Xavion Mandigo.
Mandigo has tremendous speed and athleticism to make tackles all over the field. The 6-2, 170-pound, prospect also possesses great footwork and intensity helping him land an offer from Louisiana College while drawing interest from Mississippi College. Not only does Mandigo patrol the Gators secondary against 5A Louisiana offenses but he also runs on the track team and has a 3.4 GPA in the classroom.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Gators cornerback to talk about his high school career at Captain Shreve and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
Xavion, how would you grade your individual performance through the first two games of the senior season?
I would grade my performance as a B for my first two games of the season.
What are your strengths on the football field?
My strengths on the football field are that I’m very patient, I tackle well, and I am very competitive.
Which area of your game has shown the most improvement after all your offseason workouts?
The area of my game that I have seen the most improvement in from the offseason is that I have gotten very patient with my feet.
What coverages are you guys running in the secondary?
We run a Cover 2 and man-to-man scheme.
How do your skills translate to that scheme?
My skills translate to the scheme because I can run very well and I love to play man to man.
How would you describe what type of player you are?
The type of player that I am would be that I’m going to go hard every play, I’m very humble, and you’re going to get 1,000 percent out of me every day.
What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
My fastest time is 4.5.
Is there a current NFL player that you try to model your game after?
I model my game after Richard Sherman.
Do you have any college offers?
Louisiana College.
Are there any other schools showing you interest?
Mississippi College.
Do you play any other sports in high school?
I run on the track team.
What do you like most about playing at Captain Shreve?
What I like most about playing at Captain Shreve is that I play with 10 other guys on defense that love to work hard every day and are always ready to earn the win on Friday nights.
Who has had the biggest impact on your football career?
My mom.
What are your goals for your senior season?
I want to help my team win district, go to the playoffs and win state.
What is your GPA?
3.4.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.
