Chris Frierson burst onto the scene in his first year playing for the Gators of Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport. During six games of the 2020 season, Frierson racked up 15 total tackles, four sacks, three pass deflections, and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown. His junior season was limited missing two games due to quarantine adding more fuel to his offseason workout fire.

The 6’3”, 210-pound, playmaker uses his size and hands to slap passes downs while also possessing good athleticism and footwork. An oft overlooked part of his game is his leadership on the gridiron.

The Class of 2022 recruit is currently working hard to get stronger and work on his pass-rushing skills to have an even bigger senior season in 2021 and earn his first college offer.

Not only does Frierson lead by example on the practice field and weight room but also in the classroom where he holds a 4.0 GPA.

Interview

Chris, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?

As the season progressed, I got better and better because it was my first year playing.

What are your strengths on the football field?

I use my size to deflect passes and identify who has the ball.

What do you like most about playing on the defensive side of the ball?

We can make a play at any given time. When it’s you verse an offensive tackle, the best man will win.

What was your most memorable moment last year?

Against Southwood, when I recovered a fumble for a touchdown. And when I got my first sack against Scotlandville.

What kind of defense does Captain Shreve run?

4-2-4.

How do your skills fit into this defensive scheme?

Since we have four upfront, I get to rush off the edge and I love to do that. We help each other up front.

What type of challenges did you face in 2020?

I had to quarantine and miss two weeks. It was tough to sit out because I had been working hard up to that point.

How did you overcome these challenges?

I stayed in shape so I was ready to go when it was time.

What are your maxes in the weight room?

My max squat is 350 and my max bench is 225. My max clean is 235.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Von Miller.

What do you like most about playing at Captain Shreve?

I like the family atmosphere. We all have the same goal of winning a state championship. We all push each other to be the best.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I throw the discus.

Who is your biggest role model and why?

My parents, because they both work hard. I want to be like them and be a hard-working person.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

Philippians 4:13.

What is your GPA?

4.0.

What are your goals for the offseason?

Just keep getting better. I want to get bigger and stronger. I also plan to work on my pass-rushing moves.

Thank you for your time today.

Thank you, sir.
