Dontae Darjean had a solid junior for Carencro High School as he ran for 556 yards and nine touchdowns on 54 carries while helping lead the Bears to a state title. The 5’8″, 200-pound, ball carrier plays with tremendous explosiveness and power. He also possesses great strength and ball-carrying ability.

The Class of 2022 recruit is currently working hard to earn his first college offer while trying to get bigger, stronger, and faster every day during the offseason. It will be exciting to watch Darjean have an even bigger senior season while trying to lead Carencro to a second straight state title.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Dontae to talk about his junior season, his offseason workouts and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview
Dontae, what does it mean to you to be a state champion?
It means a lot to me, but I can’t stay stuck on that it happened. It’s in the past with last year’s team. We have a new team now. It’s time to go for a repeat.

How would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?
I feel my junior season was pretty good but I’m striving to be better. I want it all. My senior season will be a movie.

What was your best game and why?
My best performance came in the quarterfinals when we put up 81 points.

What are your strengths on the football field?
Good play execution, good strategy, and I handle the ball well.

Did you receive any individual honors?
Second team All-District.

What kind of offense does your school run?
We run a veer offense.

How do your skills fit into this offense?
I’m strong, big, quick, and explosive. I have a lot of power coming behind me when I run the ball.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
4.7.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
Leonard Fournette because of how explosive he is.

What is your favorite thing about playing at Carencro?
The fans, the culture, and the coaches.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?
English, because I like reading books that relate to me.

Who is your biggest role model?
Saquon Barkley, because of his speed. He’s a smart player and no one ever knows what he will do to beat a defender.

Are there any colleges showing interest in you?
No, sir. Not really.

What is your GPA?
2.8.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
Proverbs 3:5-6.

What are your goals for the offseason?
I want to get bigger, faster, and stronger, and better every day.

Thank you for your time today.
Thank you, sir.
