Louisiana Football: Interview with Haughton Monstrous 2022 DE Demetrus Gladney Jr.

Demetrus Gladney Jr. is a dominant force on the defensive line of the Haughton Buccaneers. The 6’5”, 250-pound, end force plays with tremendous athleticism and speed while also possessing good quickness and tackling ability. The productivity on the field against Louisiana 5A competition has brought two offers with interest building for the Class of 2022 prospect.
Gladney enjoys the action in the trenches and compares himself to Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald. It will be exciting to watch Gladney lead the Haughton defense and come up with exciting plays during his senior season in 2021.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Demetrus to talk about his junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
Demetrus, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?
From 1 to 10, I’ll give myself a 7.
What would you say was your best game and why?
Our game against Ouachita, because I couldn’t be contained.
What are your strengths on the football field?
My athleticism and speed.
What do you like about playing defensive end?
The action you get on the line.
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
Aaron Donald.
How do your skills fit into the Haughton defensive scheme?
I’m supposed to maintain my gap, but if I can go and make the play, I can.
What are your maxes in the weight room?
My max bench is 295, my max clean is 280, and my squat is 325.
Have you attended any camps this summer?
Arkansas-Monticello and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns.
What camp did you like the most and why?
The Ragin’ Cajuns’ camp, because it had a lot of competition and it was my first camp ever.
What are you working on the most this offseason?
My footwork and my hands.
Are you receiving interest from any schools?
The Ragin’ Cajuns and Lamar University.
Do you have any college offers?
Arkansas-Monticello and Louisiana College
Who is your role model and why?
My dad, because he had the confidence I want to have when I get older.
What do you like most about playing at Haughton High School?
The home games, because I feel like we have some of the best fans.
What is your GPA?
3.12.
What are your goals for your senior season?
Break the schools sack record and make first team All-District.
