In 2017, Shreveport’s Huntington High School had another rough campaign as the Raiders suffered through a 3-7 season missing the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year. One of the areas of the concern was the offense seeing the Raiders average 20 points a game. In 2018, there is growing excitement that Huntington can reach postseason for the first time since 2012 thanks to one of the rising stars that will lead this team in senior dual-threat quarterback Jordan Crumpton.

The 6-4, 215-pound, playmaker uses his unique athletic ability to make plays both in the air and by using his legs. In 2017, Crumpton threw for 1,134 yards and 12 touchdowns and then ran for 251 additional yards and another score on the ground. The Class of 2019 prospect currently holds one college offer but is drawing interest from other colleges all over the country.

Crumpton not only shines on the football field but also in the classroom where he has a 3.7 GPA and has a 22 ACT score.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru, I sat down with Jordan to discuss his recruiting process and preview his senior season.

Interview

What are your thoughts on your individual performance last year?

“I believe that my performance last year was decent but definitely didn’t reflect who I am as player. I feel like it was a learning experience considering I didn’t get a lot of playing time in my sophomore and freshmen year.”

What are your strengths on the football field?

“I possess a unique ability to extend plays and slip away from defenders in the pocket. I also am a hard and physical runner. I do well finishing runs with contact on quarterback power and draw plays. Along with that, I have tremendous arm strength and anticipation on throws.”

What are your stats from last season?

“I threw for 1,134 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. I also rushed for 251 yards and one touchdown in the seven games that I played.”

Do you have any college offers?

“I have one Division-III offer from East Texas Baptist University.”

Are there any schools showing you interest?

“At this point, almost everyone in the country is watching to see if I have a break out senior year.”

Did you compete at any college camps this summer?

“I went to four camps this summer; TCU, Southern, Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State.”

What are your expectations for your senior season?

“I believe my senior year will be amazing. I’ll be leading my team into the playoffs for the first time in six years and making a run. I’m looking to establish myself and my team as one of the best in the state.”

Walk me through your week-long preparation as you get closer to game day?

“Regardless of practice intensity or length, I do a light workout every day. I’ve learned from personal experience that working out prevents injuries, so I make sure I get a light weight, high-rep lift session in every day. On Monday and Wednesday, I go through a yoga session to maintain core strength and lower body flexibility which I believe is extremely important as a football player.

What game on the schedule are you most looking forward to playing?

“I’m looking forward to playing Woodlawn High School the most this year. Every game has its reasons for being a big deal with me but this one holds a special place because they have been a rival of ours for years. Woodlawn has been the team to beat in our district since I’ve been in high school. It’s a big deal to our city and community that we come out on top of the Knights this year.”

What are your goals for your senior season?

“To win a state championship and secure the opportunity to play at the next level.”

Is there a quarterback that you try to model your game after?

“Cam Newton, I feel like we have very similar skill sets.”

What is your GPA?

“My GPA is 3.7.”

What is your current ACT score?

“I have a 22 ACT score.”

What do you want to study in college?

“In college, I would like to study sports medicine or architecture.”

Thank you for your time and good luck this season.

“Thank you, sir.”
