Louisiana: Fun Q&A Interview with Loyola College Prep DT Khalil Sumlin

Written by Charlie Beuttel

Loyola College Prep has a rich history of football in Shreveport, Louisiana as the Flyers have been playing since 1920. In 2015, Loyola started 2-1 but unfortunately have lost three straight games. The Flyers still have plans to win their district and will look to win at North Webster this Friday.

One of the leaders of the team is defensive tackle Khalil Sumlin who is having a great senior season.

The 5’11”, 295 pound, run stopper has 45 tackles including three for a loss and 1.5 sacks through the first six games of the season. In 2014, Sumlin had 63 tackles including eight for a loss and 3.5 sacks and received two individual honors including All-District and Academic All-District.

This past summer, the senior leader attended four college camps including LSU and has interest from three schools including Northwestern State. This past Saturday, on October 10, Sumlin went on his first visit to Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.

Not only does Sumlin excel on the football field, he currently has a 3.5 GPA in the classroom and has plans to study engineering in college.
